  • I have noticed several people banned lately but have not seen anywhere why they were banned.  Is is the place one can look to find out that information?

  • When Matthew bans someone he always gives a reason.

Yes, but where can I find the reason?  Under what heading?  Or does he just do it on the offensive post where ever the post was made?

  • The reasons for geddeg's banishment were posted here: http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php?a=topic&t=4334&min=210&num=10

My guess is that Matthew usually posts the reasons for banning in the thread where the offending posts that resulted in banning appeared.

  • Matthew will come out with a post why a person is banned and why.
He will quote the post that got the person banned.

Logical in its own way, but then it seems that the best that interested, um, surviving members are able to do is look in the topic linked to as "Last Post", and hope that it's not so busy that Matthew's explanatory posting appears many pages later.  But that link doesn't always find an explanation, e.g., 'McCork' in the 1-page "Frequently Asked Questions on the Subject of Usury [...]"
    • .

In at least 1 previous episode, Matthew placed an explanation in the member's "Profile" page in its "Signature field".  That way, the reason is associated directly with the member, and it's accessible via any of the topics in which the member participated
    • . I thought it was an ingeniously simple & elegant solution.

So as far as I can figure, Matthew might not provide an explanation, or he might, but necessarily by the same method for each banning.

      -------
Note #: "Last Post" for 'McCork' was in "The Library", in the 1-page "Frequently Asked Questions on the Subject of Usury [...]" (Apr 11, 2016, 7:00 pm).

Note *: I'd not read anything in the topic in "Health and Nutrition" that was kindly identified by 'Degrelle' (same posting as quoted above); the only place I recall seeing 'qeddeq'[**] posting recently was in "Fighting Errors in the Modern World", among the opposition on the currently latest page of "Scientific Proof Earth is Not a Globe" topic.  Where 'McCork' was an earlier member of the opposition.  Which makes arguing that position look hazardous to one's CathInfo membership.

      Note **: He's 'qeddeq', as in Q.E.D.<->D.E.Q.

  • I wonder if this could be Greg or Gregg. His name must have been purged
    from the roster.
He got banned for claiming that his daughter had such a wonderful
experience attending a public school. And recommended those with
children on CI be sent to public schools.
There should be a section on those by their user name and why they
were banned. I see this on other forums.

Public schools in the UK =/= public schools in the US.

What the British call "public school" is a very selective, very expensive elite school. They usually get an excellent education that preps them for later life or university if they choose. Most of them are the top schools in all of the UK and a fair amount are still single-sex. They are not the American public schools in any way.

A lot of the British elite come from them.

I think ggreg was banned because he and Matthew butt heads frequently, especially how he addresses some issues.

I don't think geddeg was greg because I don't think they acted the same and had the same style and also because I don't think greg is a liar and he would have had to lie to pretend to be someone else and to lie in the introduction thread.

Nope.  He's indeed banned but still there, assuming that you're referring to the guy whose  member-name is 'ggreg', not 'gregg'.  His "Last Post" (Jan 29, 2015, 10:05 am) was in the 2-page topic "Minimum wage has dropped 90 pct in past 40 year" (#p7), originated by Matthew.

Matthew seemed to be caressing his ban hammer as he wrote the immediately prior posting (#p6 Jan 29, 2015, 10:04 am).  The posting times are 1 minute apart, so it might be reasonable to interpret that as indicating 2 postings that "crossed on the Internet" (so to speak).

You mean a new index of banned users, presumably alphabetical?   Sure, it's be convenient to have, but it'd be yet another programming task to fit into Matthew's priorities as owner-moderator--and father.  But you might get most of the functionality you seem to want from a pinned (and maybe locked) topic in "General Discussion".  I'd expect the latter to be easy & quick to do.
