There are several names/individuals listed under the Diocese of Scranton I had association with during my monastic foray in PA. There is/was definitely something diabolic going on in that state for such a huge number of abusers to be prevalent.

The recently appointed bishop of my diocese is on this list, Bp. John Barres.

My father is so upset he's thinking of not going to mass.  He's 89 years old and has never missed mass without very good reason.

I am so sorry Seraphina. This filth is a faith killer for most.

Is that the Rockville diocese Barres is in now? I think he was in Allentown before

I suspect it's not just this state...
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

I read through about a quarter of the abusers, it is interesting that most of the pre V2 abusers were heterosɛҳuąƖ deviants, and post V2 they were almost all ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs. The earliest case they mentioned (that I read) was in 1945.

Almost every priest that was in the list was committing rape, not just 'fondling'.  Truly disgusting.

Yes, he's that bishop.  And he just consecrated several priests to bishops.  Now one has to wonder why he chose those particular men.

We are in need of a Pope such as St. Pius V, speaking on the subject of sodomite clergy:

Quote
“Having determined to do away with everything that may in some way offend the Divine Majesty, we resolve to punish, above all and without indulgence, those things which, by the authority of the Sacred Scriptures or by most grievous examples, are more repugnant to God than any others and raise His wrath: that is, negligence in divine worship, ruinous simony, the crime of blasphemy, and the execrable libidinous vice against nature. For such faults peoples and nations are scourged by God Who, according to His just condemnation, sends catastrophes, wars, famine, and pestilence ...

“Let the judges know that if, even after this our Constitution, they are negligent in punishing these crimes, they will not only be guilty of them in the divine judgment but also will incur our indignation ...

If someone commits that nefarious crime against nature that caused divine wrath to be unleashed against the children of iniquity, he will be given over to the secular arm for punishment [of death]; and if he is a cleric, he will be subject to the same punishment after having been stripped of all his degrees [of ecclesiastical dignity].”

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

Of the people that you knew are there any who would not surprise you that they would be on that list?

Prior to the list being published it was reported that there were names on the list who were still in ministry. The bishop said that those men were those about whom accusations were made and after an investigation the accusations were deemed not credible. Your bishop could fall under that category. I think you should give him the benefit of a doubt.

The grand jury deemed the claims credible you blithering idiot!  How many thousands of children have been raped because they got the benefit of the    doubt and kept on raping kids!

People I knew and lived with for a term. Apart from a brief association with the SSJ, there are two others from the Scrsnton region.

The church will settle because if you fight it looks like you're defending abuse.  There will be some real cases of abuse but I bet there many bogus claims as well. Some people aren't in it for the money. Some people just like to be victims and the sympathy that goes with it. Honestly some of the stories I heard just seemed flat out bogus. Claiming a priest molested her at 18th month old. How does she remember being abused that young? Why does a priest have access to such a young child? Sounds like something a therapist puts in your head.
