  • What is Penelope's web?  :confused1: It has to do with something that has to be done all over again.
There Is No Such Thing As 'Sede Vacantism'...
nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'

  • Penelope was Queen of Ithaca and wife of Odysseus, in Greek mythology.

Odysseus went off to the Trojan war and was away from home for 20 years. meanwhile Penelope was pestered by successive suitors, trying to persuade her that Odysseus wouldn't return and that she should remarry.

She was sure that Odysseus would return and adopted a delaying strategy to preserve her chastity.  She began to weave the funeral shroud for her (still living) father-in-law and every night  she unravelled it, starting again the following morning, telling suitors that she couldn't consider any new marriage until her obligations to Odysseus' family would be fulfilled.

Eventually, Odysseus did return and the pair were reunited.

So Penelope's web was the weaving and unravelling of the shroud, a way of preserving her chastity while she awaited her husband's return.

Not sure how it would fit your circuмstances, though.

  • Louis Madelin uses the term to describe the way the C Consalvi & Napoleon had to rewrite the Concordat with the Church 'all over again'.
