Has anyone here ever gone to Our Lady of La Salette Church in Bayside New York? Do you know anything about it? All I know about it is that it is independent and has the Latin Mass and the priest is named Fr. Jesé Milagrosa. I am interested because the Church is not too far from me and I would like to find out if it would be a good option to go to Mass there if I stop attending Mass at the SSPX chapel.

:heretic:
These are the people who believe in the apparition of Mary through Sr. Lucia in Flushing Meadow Park. I'd stay away, myself.
-
So they are followers of a questionable private revelation? I am not a big fan of questionable private revelations.
-
Stay away from Bayside, my friend.
-
I am not a big fan of questionable private revelations.
That sums it up very well. Questionable private revelation takes center stage, rest of Faith is on the sidelines. I've heard the priest's ordination is also questionable, but I don't know why.

Condemned by bishop:
DECLARATION CONCERNING THE "BAYSIDE MOVEMENT"
November 4, 1986 Letter of Bishop Francis Mugavero of Brooklyn
In recent months, doubts have been raised by members of the so-called
"Bayside Movement" concerning the official position of the Diocese of
Brooklyn on the alleged "apparitions" of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and
other heavenly beings, to a woman by the name of Vernica Lueken.
Moreover, erroneous claims have been made by a number of followers of Mrs.
Lueken concerning the legitimacy of their position, in order to justify
their activities on behalf of the "Movement." These have taken the form of
statements in their publications that "since Articles 1399 and 2218 of
(the 1917 Code of) Canon Law were abrogated by Pope Paul VI in 1966, no
ecclesiastical permission is required, neither can anyone incure censure,
for the publication or dissemination of information dealing with
revelations, visions or miracles, provided these do not endanger Faith or
morals."
As a result of the above-mentioned doubts and claims, a number of Christ's
faithful continue to attend the regularly-scheduled "vigils" held at
Flushing Meadow Park, and to disseminate or receive propaganda literature
on this matter.
I, the undersigned Diocesan Bishop of Brooklyn, in my role as the
legitimate shepherd of this particular Church, wish to confirm the
constant position of the Diocese of Brooklyn that a thorough investigation
revealed that the alleged "visions of Bayside" completely lacked
authenticity.
Moreover, in view of the confusion created by published reports of
messages and other literature by this "Movement," I consider it my
obligation to offer Christ's faithful pastoral guidance, lest their faith
be endangered by "messages" and "teachings" relayed by "visionaries,"
which are contrary to the Faith of our Catholic Church.
Therefore, in consultation with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the
Faith, I hereby declare that:
1. No credibility can be given to the so-called "apparitions" reported by
Veronica Lueken and her followers.
2. The "messages" and other related propaganda contain statements which,
among other things, are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church,
undermine the legitimate authority of bishops and councils and instill
doubts in the minds of the faithful, for example, by claiming that, for
years, an "imposter (sic) Pope" governed the Catholic Church in place of
Paul VI.
3. Those who persistently maintain that "no ecclesiastical permission is
required for the publication or dissemination" of information concerning
"revelations, visions or miracles," are erroneously interpreting the
directives of the Holy See when they attempt to justify the publication of
the propaganda literature on the "Bayside Messages."
In view of my declaration concerning the authenticity of the "visions of
Bayside," the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has confirmed
that the principles governing the publication of such religious material
still maintain authoritative moral value prohibiting the endangering of
faith and good morals (Cf. Response of SCDF of June 14, 1966, in AAS 58,
1186).
As a result, those publishing or disseminating this propaganda literature
are acting against the judgment of legitimate Church authority.
4. Because of my concern for their spiritual welfare, members of Christ's
faithful are hereby directed to refrain from participating in the "vigils"
and from disseminating any propaganda related to the "Bayside
apparitions." They are also discouraged from reading any such literature.
5. Anyone promoting this devotion in any way, be it by participating in
the "vigils," organizing pilgrimages, publishing or disseminating the
literature related to it, is contributing to the confusion which is being
created in the faith of God's people, as well as encouraging them to act
against the determinations made by the legitimate pastor of this
particular Church (c.212, para. 1).
It remains my constant hope that all the faithful spend their time and
energies in promoting devotion to our Blessed Lady, in the many forms
which have been approved by the Catholic Church.

do a search on "Bayside Apparition" and "Veronica Leuken" to find out more.

Weren't the apparitions of Bayside sedevacantist?

Weren't the apparitions of Bayside sedevacantist?
I've read some goofy dis-information on this fourm, but this is in my top two! Good Grief!
-
I would like to say that Monsignor jese does nothing to do with the apparition in fresh meadows and were independent having said that our apostolic succession comes from bishop thuc none of you sedevacantist know what your talking about maybe should stop by and have talk with our priest
-
:dancing-banana: :confused1:
What's a "sedevacantist apparition?" A vision of the Papal throne sans occupant? Do you believe the locutions of Veronica Lueken to be of God? If so, go check out Bayside. If not, stay away. No Catholic is obliged to believe private revelation. In fact, we're cautioned about them.
If seriously interested and able to judge impartially, check the chapel out for yourself. I'm sure you will find what is normal just about anywhere. Most people will be fairly pleasant, a few, cliquey, a few "fanatics" with a need to "convert" you to their views. A minority will be overtly hostile and heretical. The priest's ordination may be perfectly valid. Then again, it may not. Chances are that he will be fairly likeable, fairly well-educated in a seminary of some sort, concerned for the spiritual welfare if his flock, but doesn't that describe the average protestant pastor of any number of small churches in NYC? It might be worth investigating in case you or a loved one needs a priest in an emergency. The closest SSPX priests are over 50 miles away, the closest Resistance priests over 800 miles distant IF in residence. What's left? Dogmatic sedevacantist? Novus ordo? Eastern Rite? Formally schismatic? Slim pickings for world-class city!
-
Are people here sure that this Church is connected with the alleged apparitions? My internet search revealed no mention of the two being connected. Why not go and check it out. even a phone call could give you a lead. You can always walk away if it's not above board.
-
You have been told by someone who goes to that church that the priest has nothing to do with these "appiritions".
The church just happens to be in Bayside.
This is what I gather. If they are sedevacantist, go there, the mass will be pre-vatican 2.
I suggest you also email groups like the CMRI and SSPV in your country to ask them about this church and the ordination of the priests there.

I applaud your charity. Till this very moment, I had never heard or read anything even hinting at a characterization of adherence to the Bayside looniness. What is more, to my knowledge the validity or liceity of Father Milagrosa's ordination has never been the object of reasonable doubt. Note, please, that I am not accusing the admirable Frances of calumny or detraction, but if she or anyone else has something more substantial than what I've read thus far to offer, I think that it should be laid before us all.
I too, for my sins, am a resident of the Big Bagel, and I have met people who hear Mass there, though I am not of their number. I think particularly of two elderly people (i.e., even older than I am and hence close to eighty) who have, as I understand, gone there on and off for years. At other times they frequent an out-of-town indult parish. Since they do the latter, I can't imagine them doing the former without a qualm, especially since they are folks who are inclined to a certain amount of after-Mass socialization. (I'm not so inclined, as I've mentioned on occasion. I go to Mass, and afterwards I go home. Punkt.)
What with the present state of the world, Matto, you must make up your own mind about these questions. You seem a reasonable man, and so I am sure you will make a reasonable decision. But nowadays especially, when finding a properly ordained priest who celebrates an unadulterated Mass is by no means as easy as pie, I find the idea of canvassing (often even grilling) priests and congregations about their opinions on things that may legitimately be considered private—even if they constitute actual or arguably sinful matter—genuinely pointless, besides being distasteful in the extreme. I'd even call it un-Catholic.
-
… Since they do the latter, I can't imagine them doing the former without a qualm, especially since they are folks who are inclined to a certain amount of after-Mass socialization. …
When I typed the sentence above, I inadvertently omitted the following italicized clause, without which the sentence makes little sense:
Since they do the latter, I can't imagine them doing the former without a qualm if there were anything seriously unorthodox about the La Salette church or its priest, especially since they are folks who are inclined to a certain amount of after-Mass socialization.
Apologies to all. The clause was in my head, but it failed to reach my fingertips in due course.

Yes, really throws one off-balance to feel interrogated around churches and chapels.
-
Could the fools who jumped in to condemn this place because it happened to be in Bayside stop and think before they post?
-
Father Bolduc had Mass up in Necedah up here in Wisconsin. There's a chapel around there that has a "visionary" connected with Bayside, but the church that Father said Mass at was not at all connected with it.
Laud is right. The church that the OP is referring to is not connected to the "visionary" church just because it's in Bayside. People tried to associate Father Bolduc with it since the church he was saying the Mass at was in the same town.

Lol. And you are going to listen to a novus ordo bishop???
:roll-laugh1:
-
Of course it will be condemned by these liberal Novus ordo bishops who hate true Catholicism.
-
Why not just go there yourself instead of bantering about it our lady of la salette have no connection to the apparation of bayside hence there are sedevacantist with valid ordination speak with father Paul dolorsa and he will explain everything
-
Of course it will be condemned by these liberal Novus ordo bishops who hate true Catholicism.
This is what I was thinking. I'm not a personal fan of private revelations, but I wouldn't rule it out simply because the NO Church says we should.

Weren't the apparitions of Bayside sedevacantist?
I've read some goofy dis-information on this fourm, but this is in my top two! Good Grief!
Don't you know that sedevacantism is the root of all evil?
-
I went to this Church today for Ash Wednesday because my normal chapel did not have Mass today. It seemed normal. They have a strict no pants policy for women and mandatory veiling. It was easy to follow along with the Mass because the priest spoke loudly. It was a dialogue Mass which I am not used to. The sermon was in Spanish and there were about five of us who did not know Spanish so another priest got us all together and translated the sermon into English for us. I was wondering if there would be anything wrong with the chapel because I have gotten warnings about it being strange though I never got any details about why it was strange. I don't plan on switching chapels but if I ever have to find a new place to go to Mass it is another option.
-
Were the apparitions associated with a NO church in the same town? I saw some pics online and there were people in jeans and t-shirts in a church but I can't say for sure the pic was actually the church in Bayside or was from another church and was just being used as an example of the modern changes in the church.
-
Were the apparitions
Er... alleged apparitions.

Before 1978, Veronica Lueken predicted that Pope Paul VI would flee from Rome in exile and be replaced with the worst antipope in history (Karol Wojtyla). There were numerous predictions of that, and then this woman became deluded by Satan because of pride, and she fell in contradiction: she supported Karol Wojtyla.
For this reason, here is what we can read in the Swiss exorcisms:
“That's why the Blessed Virgin said at Bayside that a man of dark secrets would sit on the Seat of Peter. Those were true words. This man of dark secrets is Wojtyla, Karol Wojtyla... That's what he is... And we have to say that!... I don't want to talk anymore! Exorcism.
We have said why Bayside has deviated. We have had to unveil it. He who does not remain humble and hidden runs the risk of seeing Heaven withdraw and demons speak instead of Heaven."
October 13th, 1986
“Veronica Lueken, the seer of Bayside, predicted that a man of dark secrets would seat on the Throne. Now that he is sitting on it, she has opposite revelations!(...)”
April 10th, 1988
Before he became an antipope, when he was a true seer, Clement of Palmar also said that Pope Paul VI would flee in exile and be replaced with an antipope. He announced a period of schism, and it was his mission to travel all around the world to warn the Catholics about that.
We can find the same thing in the Necedah apparitions: several predictions said that Pope Paul VI would flee in exile and be replaced with "the black pope".
Here is what the Bayside apparitions said about this "black pope":
Many prayers of reparation are needed for Our Vicar. There is, My child, a plan to eliminate him. It is being developed to remove him from Our House for one who is known as Antichrist to reign [the precursor of Antichrist, Karol Wojtyla]. Yes, this black leader is not black of color, but of heart. He will bring much evil into My Son’s House.
December 25, 1971
Most of the private revelations defending Catholic tradition mentioned Paul VI's survival; but nowadays the Catholics are blinded by Satan, because of the sins of the flesh.
Here are some quotes of the Bayside apparitions:
December 7, 1970
Our Vicar is in great danger. Already there is a plan in motion to remove him from among you. Never cease in your prayers. I will guide the Message to thine Holy Father, for they cannot hold back the truth.
October 6, 1971
The hour approaches, My child. Your prayers are sorely needed now, for already the plan is in motion to remove Our Vicar from among you. Pray! Pray as you have never offered prayers before.
December 25, 1971
Many prayers of reparation are needed for Our Vicar. There is, My child, a plan to eliminate him. It is being developed to remove him from Our House for one who is known as Antichrist to reign [the precursor of Antichrist, Karol Wojtyla]. Yes, this black leader is not black of color, but of heart. He will bring much evil into My Son’s House.
April 1, 1972
Continue your prayers and sacrifices for your Vicar. The enemy has a well-founded plan to remove him from the Seat of Peter.
August 21, 1972
The enemy is within the House of God. He will seek to remove your Vicar from among you, and when he does he will place a man of dark secrets [Karol Wojtyla] upon the Seat of Peter!
September 7, 1972
Those in My Son’s House now receive final warning that they will not remove Our Vicar from the holy House of God. For to do so will set in motion the advent of the anti-pope into your House.
September 14, 1972
You will now make haste to enlighten the bishops that should they proceed in their plan to remove Our Vicar, the sword will come down upon them.
October 6, 1972
The evil surrounds your Vicar. The plan is to remove him from among you. When he is removed, you will receive the man of dark secrets upon the Seat of Peter.
May 30, 1973
You will stand behind your Vicar. The agents of hell surround him. They will not remove him from the Seat of Peter. A greater punishment falls upon man should he be removed from the Seat of Peter! It is the plan of Lucifer to sit his agent upon the Seat.
August 14, 1973
You will follow the Vicar of Christ. On your earth you will not remove him from the Seat of Peter and place one who has been planned from hell.
March 29, 1975
Your Holy Father, Paul, Pope Paul VI, is under great trial. Pray that he is not removed from among you, for there is one waiting to replace him who shall sow great discord and division in My Son's House.
June 5, 1975
There is a plan afoot, My child, and in print to destroy confidence in the Holy Father, Pope Paul VI. It is the plan of the enemy to remove him from the Seat of Peter.
You must pray much for him. All of his writings are being monitored, My child. There are many enemies in his office [Cardinal Villot falsified the Holy Father's docuмents].
But you must remain loyal to Rome and your Holy Father, Our Vicar upon earth, Pope Paul VI. The agents of hell set around him shall seek to remove him, and you will find upon the Seat of Peter one who is a puppet of satan.
September 6, 1975
Yes, My child, the tears are falling from Heaven. We see a plot against Our beloved Vicar. We see the enemy within planning to remove him. Already, My child, his hands are tied.
September 13, 1975
The great Warning promised to mankind is soon coming upon you. If this is not accepted as coming from the Eternal Father, you will bow your heads in sorrow with the loss of your Holy Father, Pope Paul VI, and then shall descend the hand upon you. There shall be set upon earth a sword.
My child, you must pray much for your great pastor in Rome, the eternal Father, your Vicar, Pope Paul VI. He suffers much at the hands of his enemies. My child, he is but a prisoner in the Eternal City.
The forces of evil are working to remove him, My child.
December 6, 1975
You will pray for your Vicar, Pope Paul VI. He is laid low under a heavy cross, My children.
Those who should support him, those whom he trusts most, are now plotting to remove him from the Seat of Peter.
April 10, 1976
O My child, how many tears of sorrow do I shed for what is coming upon your Holy Father and Our Vicar, Pope Paul VI, in the Eternal City of Rome! The Eternal Father in Heaven is watching as mankind is setting himself fast upon a path of schism. There will be much strife within the Eternal City, My child. You must keep a constant vigilance of prayer.
You must join with other voice-boxes of the world in defense of your Vicar, your Holy Father upon earth, or you will all shed tears of great sorrow when they remove him from among you and seat upon the throne of Peter one who is an antipope, a man of dark secrets.
April 17, 1976
My child, you will listen carefully and repeat after Me. It is at this time, due to the urgency of your times, I must warn you now that the agents of 666 are in Rome, the Eternal City. As My Mother has told you in the past, it is the plan of this group, the agents of 666, to remove your Vicar, Pope Paul VI, from Rome.
July 15, 1976
There is now in the city of Rome a conspiracy of evil to remove your Vicar from the Seat of Peter. The forces, the red forces are gathering. Pray a constant vigilance of prayer. When the upheaval in Rome takes place, My children, know that the end of your era is at hand.
September 14, 1976
When you see, when you hear, when you feel the revolution in Rome, when you see the Holy Father fleeing, seeking a refuge in another land, know that the time is ripe [Pope Paul VI escaped from Rome on July 12th 1981, and he will flee a second time after his reappearance in Rome]. But beg and plead that your good Pontiff does not leave Rome, for he will allow the man of dark secrets to capture his throne [Karol Wojtyla was able to definitely capture his throne when Paul VI fled from Rome in 1981].
March 18, 1978
You must all pray and do penance for the welfare of the Holy Father in Rome, Pope Paul VI. He has many traitors at his table with him. They seek to remove him and place one, a man of dark secrets, upon the Seat.

While the apparitions at Bayside were in the same town as this chapel, I do not believe there is any connection between this chapel and the apparitions.
