I wonder if Pope Francis will offer Communion to Patriarch Bartholomew.  I am certain the Patriarch will refuse if he does.  If this plays out in public, it will be interesting to watch.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • Are there some among the Orthodox who will condemn Patriarch Bartholomew for this act of ecuмenism?
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

Most definitely, yes.  The Greek Old Calendarists will be mad.  The Greek Ephraimite monasteries will not like it, but may not say much.  ROCOR will be very annoyed.

  • I think he's also inviting a rabbi to his "installation Mass", right?

    What a Judaizer!
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Well, lots of people will be invited, including our own VP, who is hardly a paragon of Catholic orthodoxy.  I don't mind the Patriarch, the Rabbi, or the VP being there.  I will mind if the Pope offers the Blessed Sacrament to non-Catholics.

It is outrageous that His Holy Body is often casually handed off to apostates and heretics.
However, I mind if the VP and others like him are invited... that so-called Catholic ilk are excommunicated and it causes scandal to honor them this way.
Regardless, the emperor has no clothes.  He and the hierarchy resist tradition because they are tied to Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ.  I pray that Francis at least does not flaunt judaic and/or masonic symbols on his vestments as Benedict did.

If the initial trend continues, you're going to wake up one day wishing you had
the good old days of B16 vestments - at least he used some of the trappings of
tradition.  It's looking like under Francis the pretense of customary designs is
going right out the window.  By the time he's thrown down a few ceremonies
without them, "masonic or judaic symbols" might be the least of your worries!

    /For-the-first-time-since-the-Great-Schism,-ecuмenical-patriarch-to-attend-pope's-inaugural-Mass-//AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!//.html

For the first time since the Great Schism - gosh.  How many years is that?

    Let's see.  First, B16 pulls a first-time-in-600-years-abdication-and-first-time-
EVER-for-feeling-too-old-for-the-job, and now his successor pulls a first-time-
    in-949-years-attendance-by-a-schismatic.

If he could only have held out for another 20 years, he'd be on par with the
age of Methuselah, "for he lived 969, and he died and went to heaven, Lord,
    in a due time."

Can you imagine?  "Bless me Father for I have missed Mass for 949 years..."
