A pair of goats looking to escape a light rain had to be rescued by a crane after they found themselves stranded on a bridge beam in Pennsylvania Tuesday.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Turnpike say the animals wandered away from a farm in the area and wound up stuck on the edge of the Mahoning River Bridge. They were spotted by state police, who called for backup.

"The goats likely had to deal with periods of rain and increasingly bitter conditions on the narrow ledge," said weather.com meteorologist Jonathan Belles.

The animals were on the beam, which is eight inches wide and roughly 150 to 200 feet above the ground, for about 18 hours, WGAL.com reports.

Crews borrowed a crane from the state Department of Transportation to rescue the goats and return them home safely.
    Lord have mercy.

Good thing they weren't holding up General Patton's army.

Well, in any event, it was probably the people who call us donkeys and worse who orchestrated knocking off Patton.  He was on to them big time.
