  • The letter to Timothy mentions only one mediator. Then what about the others?

  • I think she's referring to the passage about there is one mediator between God and MAN.

1 Tim 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus:

The prottys love to use this verse and interpret it to the way they like.

Anyone who looks at the Church's interpretation should be able to see what it means; that in order to be heard by God, you have to go through the second person of the Blessed Trinity, which is Jesus.

Some try and say that you can only pray to Jesus. Fact is, everything already goes through Him. When you pray to Our Lady, she always goes to her Son, making our prayers like exquisite smelling and beautiful flowers before His Majesty. When you pray to the saints, you are asking them to pray for you, and naturally, being in heaven, they're already going to Jesus with our petitions, Who then goes to the Father.

    Does that make sense?

    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • Also, in the Douay Rheims, there's a small footnote there which explains what the Church teaches regarding the entire phrase. Notice there's a colon there.

(vs 5)For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus: (vs 6)Who gave himself a redemption for all, a testimony in due times.

(vs 5)One mediator: Christ is the one and only mediator of redemption, who gave himself, as the apostle writes in the following verse.

    Also, regarding verse 6:

(vs 6)  a redemption for all: He is also the only mediator, who stands in need of no other to recommend his petitions to the Father. But this is not against our seeking the prayers and intercession, as well of the faithful upon earth, as of the saints and angels in heaven, for obtaining mercy, grace, and salvation, through Jesus Christ. As St. Paul himself often desired the help of the prayers of the faithful, without any injury to the mediatorship of Jesus Christ.
