  • Here is a photo of Bishop Fulton Sheen giving a talk at the Corpus
Christi Church in Chicago, Illinois in 1954.
If anyone has a recording of this talk, I sure be interested.

  • My understanding about it, he  was confused about what was going on, but look at his message.  I think he wavered back and forth like so many are still doing today, but hopefully died in God's grace.    Can you find fault with the message within the video?

    I don't think he was a Modernist.
    Please pray for my soul.

If you want to hear about politics, I guess.

Right now I am interested in feeding my soul.  To each his own for this moment of time.

  • The Radio and Television talks of Bishop Fulton Sheen was one of the
reasons that my Mother converted to the Roman Catholic Religion.
Our Family were Methodists and Baptists, and I have to go back to
the reformation to find a Catholic ancestor.
This is why I use RomanCatholic1953, 1953 was the year of my
Baptism, and it was a conditional Baptism because I was
originally baptized as a Methodist when I was 6 months old.
The Methodist uses the correct formula of Baptism that makes
it valid. But it is the intention of the pastor that is called into
question. He had no intentions of baptizing me into the
    Catholic Religion.
My Grandparents watch Bishop Fulton Sheen, with regrets they
never converted. And, died as protestants.

  • This bishop taught that men needed to become "worthy" of women.

I've seen a few people be a downer on him over VII. But remember this message and others in his prime was all pre-VII.

He was 70 when VII came into effect and likely trusted everyone doing the right things.

So all he saw was the beginnings of the mess it caused through the eyes of an old man. I doubt with his sharp mind if he could see the fallout he would support it today and would then be pushed to the sidelines like all the rest who voice concerns.
