Pope Francis would say, "Follow your conscience."

If that's what he would say than I doubt that he could be considered a shepherd of souls.  I think that none of the post-Vatican II popes see themselves as shepherds of souls, particularly since the concilliarists tried to remove the word soul from the lexicon.  No more mentioning of souls.  Man, according to the post-Vatican II popes must focus on the here and now because that is all they believe in.

My husband is a sedevacantist and will no longer attend ANY mass celebrated by a VII priest (even the Latin mass).

I am worried that I am sinning by not going to the NO mass (which is my only option for a couple of weeks) because I am not fulfilling my Sunday obligation.  In a couple of weeks the TLM starts up in my area on a weekly basis, but again, the priest is a Vatican II priest.

I have no other options.  No SSPX.  Nothing.

    What do I do?

Make a two or three hour trip to a Traditional Catholic Church once a month.

This is exactly what we try to do, although we're not always successful. Sometimes we have issues with our van or face other circuмstances. What we never fail to do is avoid the NO at all costs. Our Sundays and Holydays usually consist of reading, Catechism lessons, watching Mass online, etc.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

So, do you receive communion?  I'm hesitant to receive communion in the event that I have gravely sinned by not attending mass the previous weeks?  Or do you go to confession before your monthly trip/before mass with the priest at the traditional church?

Which leads me to another critical question:

If you do not have a pre-Vatican II priest or a priest ordained in the old rite, where do you go to confession?  Because I don't know about you guys but I 'm pretty sure that I'm not going to go through life without sinning gravely.

This whole mess makes me sick.
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

We go to Confession at the chapel, to a priest ordained in the old rite. We have nothing to do with the NO.

  • Thanks for the monthly trip idea.  I will take another look at the directory on traditio.com and see if there is a possibility for us.

  • Enterprise has weekend car rental deals for those driving unreliable cars. If you only have a debit card you a need a utility bill, license, and pay stub all with the same address. Nice thing about a rental is it will have heat if you travel in the winter. HTH

Arrive on Saturday early and take in some sightseeing in your "adopted" area.

Since you will be staying at a nearby hotel/motel, arrive at the chapel early so each family member can rceceive the Sacrament of Penance.  You can even call the priest ahead of time or at least talk to him about your spiritual situation.

Judging the Pope is "above my pay grade".

You must not have attained our new member Vinikias' pay grade yet.

Did you see that Matthew has banned him? It turns out he's none other than Cathedra hiding behind a false nose and spirit-gummed moustache! That goes far toward explaining his robo-commenting pace and vicious tongue.

Unfortunately, like the real Cathedra, Vinikias had his fans here.

Yet more evidence that we live in a vale of tears.

  • Claudel,
Thanks for letting me know that Vinikias has been banned.  And thanks to Matthew for banning him.  I'm not very familiar with Cathedra.  But the Vinikias persona was a total jerk.
