Working for the Archdiocese of New York is no different than working for a secular employer. My employer is not Catholic, so contraception is paid for, but presently, not abortion. This will change come ObamaCare. The program assigns everyone a PCP, a primary care physician. There is no choice to use another doctor, and since abortions are performed at the attached city-funded clinic, it is worthless to me. I've never seen "my" doctor. If I get sick enough to warrant a doctor's care, I go to a naturopath and pay out-of-pocket. I imagine serious Catholics who work for the NY Diocese are forced into similar situations. Thank God I have no serious medical issues, at least none I know of. I cannot afford recommended routine tests, check-ups, so I do without. Many more Catholics will find themselves essentially uninsured. It is my hope to form an unofficial cooperative such as the Old Order Amish have done for decades in case of catastrophic medical expense.
