Frances had it right on the money, in part, in the second post. Traditional Catholics have more a lot in common with people of other religions than with Novus Ordo Catholics only in matters of sɛҳuąƖ morality. I don't think the same really necessarily applies to other moral matters.
In issues where money is concerned, many Protestants seem to think that riches are always a sign of God's blessings, at least when it comes to themselves, and many of them are ruthless in matters of money though they do genuinely give to many charities.
On war, they believe the United States is the New Jerusalem and they are very hawkish on the use of the military to protect Israel and other matters they decide are good for America (financially).
Only in matters dealing with the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are Protestants really close to Traditional Catholics, while the Novus Ordo Catholics have, in general, fallen into the cesspool. It is because these matters are so politically visible today that it seems that we are so close to them.
