Something I noticed -- in most of the SUVs and minivans I encounter (it seems that MOST people have one -- few people want an average sized car or "sedan" anymore...) there is usually only one passenger.
Sometimes I make a point to notice -- I look inside every "big" vehicle, and see only the driver. Are they EVER filled to capacity? If so, when? My rare excursions out of the house are at ALL times of the day. Sometimes during the workday, sometimes after 5 pm, sometimes later in the evening, sometimes close to (or after) bedtime -- and often on the weekend. Wouldn't the "whole crew" be filling those SUVs and vans during ONE OF THOSE TIME SLOTS at least?
But you know how it is -- someone has kid #2 and they think they need a big honking SUV or minivan with a sticker for each of their kids' athletic activities on the back window, and a BUSH/CHENEY 04 sticker on the bumper *sigh*
It's like everyone with kids wants to be able to "volunteer to pick up the kids" or "haul the equipment" -- but isn't that a tad too much redundancy? I mean of the 15 (?) people on the team, having 15 parents that can "haul stuff"?
It does take some...humility? to be able to drive a "less capable" car, for the sake of not wasting so much gas. Especially when everyone else is driving a large vehicle.
In Christ,
