Nothing in Common Between Christians and Muslims

Posted on February 4, 2016

Islam, in the West, is fighting its battle of acceptance and legitimacy. Muslims activists are working fervently trying to improve Islam’s image. Their goal is to create an environment in which Islam can be easily propagated. Their tool is as old as Islam itself, but they have just rediscovered it. This tool is telling Christians that Islam and Christianity have a lot in common.

They cite Islam’s belief in the Bible, God, Jesus, Mary, the Prophets, the Day of Judgment and Paradise.

This tactic is not new to Islam. Fourteen centuries ago, Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, used it when he started preaching his new religion in Mecca. At the beginning when Mohammed was weak, he was conciliatory and appeasing to Christians. He told them, “We believe in what has been sent down to us (the Quran), and sent down to you (The Bible).

Our God is the same as your God.” Surah 29:45. Later, in Medina, after Mohammed became strong, all this changed. Allah, allegedly, tells him then, “Fight the people of the book (Christians and Jєωs) who do not accept the religion of the truth (Islam) until they pay tribute by hand, being inferior.” Surah 9:29.

The fact is that the differences between Christianity and Islam are very deep, and irreconcilable. The space limitation will enable us to list just a few.

Our God is not their Allah

Our God is a loving Father, who, along with the Son and the Holy Spirit, is One God.

To Muslims, the concept of a triune God is a blasphemy.

“They do blaspheme who say God is one of three…, for there is no God except one God.” Surah 5:76

        Allah of Islam is changeable

“0ur revelations we abrogate or cause to be forgotten, we substitute (with) something better or similar.  Knowest thou not that God (Allah) hath power over all things.” Surah 2:.106

        Allah of Islam is temperamental

“If we had so willed, we could certainly have brought every soul its true guidance, but the word from me will come “I will fill Hell with Jinns (demons) and men all together.” Surah 32: 13

Allah of Islam is a deceiver

“They plot and plan, and God, too plans, but the best of planners (deceivers) is God.” Surah 8:30

        Allah of Islam is frightening

“It is God whom ye should more justly fear, if you believe.” Surah 9:13

Our Jesus is not their Isa

Our Jesus is the Son of God who died on the Cross to save the whole world.  In the Quran Jesus’ name is Isa.

–Isa is a created human being

“The similitude of Isa before God is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, and then said to him: “Be” and he was.” Surah 3:59

-Isa is just a prophet

“O people of the book (Christians) commit no excess in your religion:  nor say of God aught but truth, Christ Isa the son of Mary was (No more than) an apostle of God.” Surah 4: 171

-Isa was not crucified

“That they said (in boast) “we killed Christ Isa, the son of Mary …..but they killed him not, nor  crucified  him.” Surah 4: 157

-Isa will return to earth to destroy the Cross

“The hour will not be established until the son of Mary (Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the Cross..” Hadith vol. 3:656

Our Holy Spirit is not their Angel Gabriel

Our Holy Spirit is the third person in the Godhead. His work is to comfort, convict, regenerate, guide, give power and bring forth fruit.

-The Holy Spirit in Islam is an angel. “Then we (Allah) sent to her (Mary) our Angel (our spirit), and he (Angel Gabriel) appeared before her as a man in all respects.” Surah 19:17

“Say the Holy Spirit (the Angel Gabriel) has brought the revelation (the Quran) from thy Lord in Truth.” Surah I 6: l 02

Our Ethics are not their Sharia

Christian ethics are based on love, forgiveness, equality, tolerance and free choice.

-Islam teaches revenge

“If any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress likewise against him.” Surah 2:194

-Islam does not treat women and men as equal.

“To the male a portion equal to that of two females.” Surah 4:1 l

-Islam allows men to beat their wives

“… As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them, refuse to share their beds, beat them.” Surah 4:34

-Islam impose harsh   punishment on wrongdoers

*A thief is punished by the amputation of hands.  Surah 5:41

*A drunk is punished by 80 lashes. Hadith vol. 8:770

*An adulterer is punished by100 lashes. Surah 24:2

-Islam must be imposed by force, if necessary

“And fight them on, until there is no more tumult (seduction) or oppression, and there prevail justice, and faith in God (and the religion becomes Islam).” Surah 2: 193

-Apostasy from Islam is punishable by death

“Whoever changes his (Islamic) religion, kill him.” Hadith vol. 9:5

Our Salvation is not their straight Path

Our salvation is guaranteed by the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on our behalf, on the cross.

In Islam there is no Original Sin, and no need for the Cross; Allah, the all-powerful, has the supreme authority to punish or to forgive whomever He pleaseth, whenever He Pleaseth.

“ He (Allah) forgiveth whom He pleaseth, and punisheth whom He pleaseth, for God has power over all things.”2:284

-In Islam good deeds cancel bad deeds

“For those things that are good remove those that are evil.” Surah 11:114

– The only assurance a Muslim has of going to Paradise is through fighting for the cause of spreading Islam (Jihad), being martyred in the process.

“And if you are slain, or die in the way of Allah, forgiveness and mercy from Allah are far better than all they could amass.” Surah 3:157

Our Heaven is not their Paradise

In Christianity, Heaven’s pleasures are pleasures of spirit, pleasures of purity.

-In Islam Paradise is the place where a Muslim will be reclining, eating meats, and delicious fruits, drinking exquisite wines, and engaging in sex with beautiful women ( and perpetually young beautiful boys “wildan or Ghilman.” According to some muslim theologians).

“As to the rightcous, they will be in gardens and in happiness (to them will be said :) “Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds “They will recline (with ease) on thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and we shall join (marry) them to companions with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. …And we shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they desire.  They shall there exchange, one another, a cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. Round about them youth (handsome) as pearls well-guarded.”  Surah  52: 17,  1 9,20 & 22-24

Dear Christian Brother/ Sister

There is a new trend, these days, among well-meaning Christians, that calls for understanding, making dialogue and building bridges between Christianity and Islam. These words may sound good, but unfortunately, in many cases they have been wrongly applied.

True understanding occurs when we try to know both the attractive side of Islam and the ugly side. Islam and True dialogue occurs when we listen to them and we insist they listen to us. True bridge building occurs when the bridges we build with them go both ways. True love occurs when we tell them they are wrong if we know that they are wrong.

Muslims’ message to Christians in the West, these days,” We have a lot in common, we are similar, accept us, listen to us…”

It is a ploy, don’t believe it; they use it only to spread their religion. After they gain the upper hand, Muslims’ message will be, “we have nothing in common with you, you are infidels who worship three gods, and follow a corrupt Bible. You are dhimmis who must accept Islam or pay jizya (penalty tax) for being Christians…”

Then there would be no understanding between Muslims and Christians, no dialogues, no and no bridges…

Don’t let Muslims deceive you into believing that Islam is a legitimate extension of Christianity. The Bible makes it clear that, “ Last of all, God the Father sent His Son Jesus (Matthew 21:37), and that the Bible is God’s last revelation (Revelation 22:18). Jesus warns, “There shall arise false prophets, that if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” Matthew 24:24

You on the wrong forum, boy. "Equality, tolerance, and free choice" are all anti-Christian virtues. They are the virtues of the modern secular egalitarianism, and no one else.

I'm no friend to Islam, but honestly, this entire thing reads like some neo-con retard's sheet of reasons.  Allah is temperamental because he sends people to hell? Islam is evil because it teaches that men and women aren't equal? Well, I guess Catholicism is evil as well.

He doesn't say that in his article at all. You are putting words into his mouth.
Catholicism is a religion of tolerance and equality. Just not by the modern day definition of the words. Man and women are equal in dignity in the eyes of God. That is equality. We don't kill the non believers but we convert them. That is tolerance. We don't force people to believe using the sword. That is free will.

• “They plot and plan, and God, too plans, but the best of planners (deceivers) is God.” Surah 8:30

What this really says that the God is omniscient and those who make their way in the world by lying cannot lie to God.

Eh, yeah, we do.  For one, the typical punishment for apostasy in any Catholic monarchy was death.  The only free will there is, is choosing, internally, between God and evil, the punishment that comes afterwards for acting on said internal decision is non-withstanding to said free will.

• Our Holy Spirit is not their Angel Gabriel

The angel Gabriel was an angelic messenger sent by God to Zacharias and to the Blessed Virgin. He is a creature, created by God.

Doesn't mean it was justified. I am aware of the general heavy handed methods of dealing with heretics in the past but those were the times.  So I use early America as an example because it's the perfect image of what Catholicism has been striving for. We sent missionaries, not soldiers to deal with the natives and it largely worked. Then came the protestants with armies to slaughter them and ended all hopes of peaceful integration with the natives.

That's what sets us apart from the Muslims and Protestants. We change and find more humane ways to deal with conversion. The story of St Issac Jogues is a great example of how Catholicism adapted from it's use of the sword.

• Actually Islam did take from the Catholic Faith. In the five Pillars of Islam we see;
Shahada: Faith

Shahada is a declaration of faith and trust that professes that there is only one God (Allah) and that Muhammad is God's messenger.[10] It is a set statement normally recited in Arabic: lā ʾilāha ʾillā-llāhu muḥammadun rasūlu-llāh (لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله) "There is no god but God (and) Muhammad is the messenger of God." It is essential to utter it to become a Muslim and to convert to Islam.[11]

Actually the word "shahada" also means witness or martyrdom. Catholics have been giving witness to the truth of God long before Mohamad was born and we will continue to give witness on into the last day. Jesus said, "If you acknowledge me before men I will acknowledge you before my Heavenly Father."

Salat: Prayer

Afghan politicians and foreign diplomats praying (making salat) at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Salat (ṣalāh) is the Islamic prayer. Salat consists of five daily prayers according to the Sunna; the names are according to the prayer times: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (noon), ʿAṣr (afternoon), Maghrib (evening), and ʿIshāʾ (night). The Fajr prayer is performed before sunrise, Dhuhr is performed in the midday after the sun has surpassed its highest point, Asr is the evening prayer before sunset, Maghrib is the evening prayer after sunset and Isha is the night prayer. All of these prayers are recited while facing in the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca and forms an important aspect of the Muslim Ummah. Muslims must wash before prayer; this washing is called wudu ("purification"). The prayer is accompanied by a series of set positions including; bowing with hands on knees, standing, prostrating and sitting in a special position (not on the heels, nor on the buttocks). A Muslim may perform their prayer anywhere, such as in offices, universities, and fields. However, the mosque is the more preferable place for prayers because the mosque allows for fellowship.

Actually the prayer that they follow has its roots in the Divine Office that the monks who he visited (the monks at St Catherine's Monastery have a letter of protection written by Mohamed) We have the Angelus We have the rosary. They got this concept from us.

: Charity

Zakāt or alms-giving is the practice of charitable giving based on accuмulated wealth. The word zakāt can be defined as purification and growth because it allows an individual to achieve balance and encourages new growth. The principle of knowing that all things belong to God is essential to purification and growth. Zakāt is obligatory for all Muslims who are able to do so. It is the personal responsibility of each Muslim to ease the economic hardship of others and to strive towards eliminating inequality.[12] Zakāt consists of spending a portion of one's wealth for the benefit of the poor or needy, like debtors or travelers. A Muslim may also donate more as an act of voluntary charity (sadaqah), rather than to achieve additional divine reward.[13]

There are five principles that should be followed when giving the zakāt:
1.The giver must declare to God his intention to give the zakāt.
2.The zakāt must be paid on the day that it is due.
3.After the offering, the payer must not exaggerate on spending his money more than usual means.
4.Payment must be in kind. This means if one is wealthy then he or she needs to pay a portion of their income. If a person does not have much money, then they should compensate for it in different ways, such as good deeds and good behavior toward others.
5.The zakāt must be distributed in the community from which it was taken.[14]

The Catholic Church and her institutions have been giving charity since the time of the Apostles. We continue to do so today.

Sawm: Fasting

Three types of fasting (Siyam) are recognized by the Quran: Ritual fasting,[15] fasting as compensation for repentance (both from sura Al-Baqara),[16] and ascetic fasting (from Al-Ahzab).[17][18]

Ritual fasting is an obligatory act during the month of Ramadan.[19] Muslims must abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk during this month, and are to be especially mindful of other sins.[19] Fasting is necessary for every Muslim that has reached puberty (unless he/she suffers from a medical condition which prevents him/her from doing so).[20]

The fast is meant to allow Muslims to seek nearness and to look for forgiveness from God, to express their gratitude to and dependence on him, atone for their past sins, and to remind them of the needy.[21] During Ramadan, Muslims are also expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam by refraining from violence, anger, envy, greed, lust, profane language, gossip and to try to get along with fellow Muslims better. In addition, all obscene and irreligious sights and sounds are to be avoided.[22]

Fasting during Ramadan is obligatory, but is forbidden for several groups for whom it would be very dangerous and excessively problematic. These include pre-pubescent children, those with a medical condition such as diabetes, elderly people, and pregnant or breastfeeding women. Observing fasts is not permitted for menstruating women. Other individuals for whom it is considered acceptable not to fast are those who are ill or traveling. Missing fasts usually must be made up for soon afterward, although the exact requirements vary according to circuмstance.[23][24][25][26]

There again they got this from the Catholic Church. This idea of Ramadan comes from Lent, which was a part of the Church since before the time of Mohamad. In the case of Ramadan, they are similar to the Samaritan of Jesus' time. they fast but they do not know why. We fast and we understand why.

     Hajj: Pilgrimage to Mecca

The Hajj is a pilgrimage that occurs during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah to the holy city of Mecca. Every able-bodied Muslim is obliged to make the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their life.[27] When the pilgrim is around 10 km (6.2 mi) from Mecca, he/she must dress in Ihram clothing, which consists of two white sheets. Both men and women are required to make the pilgrimage to Mecca. After a Muslim makes the trip to Mecca, he/she is known as a hajj/hajja (one who made the pilgrimage to Mecca).[28] The main rituals of the Hajj include walking seven times around the Kaaba termed Tawaf, touching the Black Stone termed Istilam, traveling seven times between Mount Safa and Mount Marwah termed Sa'yee, and symbolically stoning the Devil in Mina termed Ramee.[28]

The pilgrim, or the haji, is honoured in the Muslim community. Islamic teachers say that the Hajj should be an expression of devotion to God, not a means to gain social standing. The believer should be self-aware and examine their intentions in performing the pilgrimage. This should lead to constant striving for self-improvement.[29] A pilgrimage made at any time other than the Hajj season is called an Umrah, and while not mandatory is strongly recommended. Also, they make a pilgrimage to the holy city of Jerusalem in their alms-giving feast.

Catholics have been practicing pilgrimage for long before Mohamad was born. We do this today. Think how many people go to Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe, Rome, the Holy Land not to mention the many other shrines that we go to on pilgrimages every year. There are many times more than go to the Catholic shrines than to Mecca every year.

Anyone who thinks Christians can have "meaningful dialogue" with Mohammedans is out of touch with reality.

In this video, a British moderator tries to listen to a mixed bag of Mohammedans who don't even agree with each other!  And the kicker is, the Brit is having a good time!

It's really scandalous to see the Brit attempting to smooth over the clash between this panel of Moslems.  He actually compliments them on being contentious with each other, saying that this diversity is beautiful.  If this is a continuing trend, Great Britain is headed for catastrophe.

There is a YouTube video made by a man who LEFT Islam, which shows pep rallies where their chant repeats over and over that they will march on Jerusalem and overtake it, making it their center of Mohammedism to rule the world, or they will die trying.

When Catholics go on pilgrimage, their goal is not to conquer the shrine and to make it their center of world domination.

No, but I do ask for inspiration of the Holy Spirit to help me to bring others closer to Jesus in the Catholic Faith.

In Lebanon where there are a variety of Christian and Islamic sects living, every village has its Christian and Muslim population. However there are no villages with Islamic populations of two different sects.
