    WFTS Radio
     Workshop For The Soul

    02/05/2005 – 08/30/2017

In the beginning of the year 2005, WFTS Radio was created. With little funds and a giant leap of faith, one man and his family set out to help others who did not have steady access to the Faith. This would be accomplished by broadcasting off of their home computer. In an unfinished cold basement that overcast February morning, the first sermons were played.  The first broadcast was supposed to end that dreary midnight. As the emails from the first listeners came in, it was clear that they wanted to continue to listen throughout that chilly night. In those early days, one man and his family made a choice for complete strangers out of compassion and kindness.

Within a few months, WFTS Radio was starting to sail into uncharted waters. Not only were programs being added and broadcasted 24/7, but listeners started tuning in across the Atlantic Ocean. At the same time that WFTS Radio was making a splash internationally, the waters started coming in, literally. Torrential rain poured down outside of the station headquarters for most of the spring and summer. The storms flooded the basement leaving electrical cords inches away from the water and an impending disaster.

However, disaster was averted when the good lady of the house offered the radio station temporary refuge in the master bedroom.  The elegant pale blue room that was decorated with such style and grace became littered with wires, CDs, microphones and other radio paraphernalia. In order to get to the closet a sound mixer and a microphone had to be moved. Maybe the master bedroom wasn’t the best place for a radio station, but it provided the shelter needed to safely broadcast until a better location could be found.

When God closes a door, it is said that He opens a window. Well, in the case of WFTS Radio He opened a garage. The basement was too wet. The rooms in the house were too small. The only other option was the garage. The rest is history. The garage became Studio G, the permanent home for WFTS Radio.

As of with anything in life, there are good times and there are bad times. WFTS Radio wouldn’t be the exception to that rule. Cancers, stroke, shingles, identity theft, persecution and the malice done by a sick woman to divide the family running WFTS radio were all survived by the entire family. Financial hardships also plagued the station. Though there were many listeners, there were few contributors. Without these generous souls and the financial contributions made by the family countless times, WFTS Radio would have perished long ago.

But why would this family go through so much to keep broadcasting one radio station? Because through the bad times they saw only the good times. The numbers that showed exactly how many people were listening when and where weren’t numbers at all, but people with souls. It wasn’t about reaching thousands of people. It was about helping, in a very small way, each individual person. It is very humbling to see two connections listening in Syria at five thirty in the morning while the station is being loaded. Words cannot describe what an honor, a privilege and a pleasure it is for the entire family of WFTS Radio to know that families and individuals just like us, who treasure the Faith dearly, take the station into their homes and hearts. That is the joy that was worth all the pain. That is the beauty from the all the suffering.

Now for the burning question on everyone’s mind. Why has WFTS Radio stopped broadcasting? What can be said is that WFTS Radio has not stopped for financial, family, health or personal reasons. What can be said is that this decision to discontinue broadcasting did not happen overnight or in haste. This is a very serious decision and it wasn’t taken lightly. This decision was unanimous and was not done out of malice toward anyone. In light of many disturbing events, both past, and present, broadcasting in good consciousness is not possible.  The same compassion and kindness that motivated and pushed WFTS Radio in the past to persevere must also prevent WFTS Radio from future broadcasting.

All of our hearts are bleeding for our listeners. No matter where you live, how old you are, what your race or nationality may be, you are a part of our WFTS Radio Family. We all love the Faith.  We all pray the same prayers. We all love God. Everything that the family of WFTS Radio ever did was out of love for God and love of neighbor, nothing more, nothing less. Pray for the Faith. Pray for the faithful. Most importantly pray for the faithless. God sent His Son to die for all sinners, not just some of us. We will always pray for the Faith and the conversion of sinners.

May God Always Bless Everyone One of You!
