JACKSON, MS, January 28, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Mississippi's last abortion facility received notice on Friday that the state health department intends to revoke its license. If the clinic closes, that would make Mississippi the first state without a single abortion clinic.

Jackson Women's Health Organization could not comply with a state law requiring aboritonists to have admitting privileges at local hospitals, in the case of botched abortions.

However, it may remain open until the board completes its final hearings. The process could take a month.

“The first state in America is” about to be “abortion-free,” Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life announced at the beginning of the first-ever Nellie Gray 5K race in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Pat Castle of Life Runners told the assembled runners, who were raising money for crisis pregnancy centers, that the announcement should make them think of "Roger Bannister, when he broke the four-minute mile. Days, weeks, and months later, several other people" did the same, "because they believed they could do it."

"The first state in America is abortion-free," he said. "The other states are going to follow."

    "Be encouraged today,” he said,

The bulletin was welcome news to those who had specifically prayed about this facility.

“We are inching closer to victory in Mississippi,” said Rusty Lee Thomas of States of Refuge, which has actively picketed outside the clinic as part of its campaign to target states with only one abortion clinic. “Keep praying and trusting the Lord to shut down the last remaining abortion mill in Mississippi, never again to raise its ugly head to harm God's children in Jesus' name!”

Other states with only one abortion clinic are Arkansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming

  • Rejoicing in hope. Patient in tribulation. Instant in prayer.

Way too many people in my life seem to think this is an awful day for women, and all I can think about is how many precious babies and their mothers might be saved if this type of thing could snowball.

  • I saw this on The Remnant's website and thought it such a beautiful replacement for Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream".

I have a prayer that one day the world will rise up and live out the true meaning of its being: “And you shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like to it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:30-31).

I have a prayer that on the day of announcement of the life created, all mothers will rejoice in the gift received.

I have a prayer that one day, doctors will again be the keepers of the gift of life, assisting mothers in nurturing the life within them.

I have a prayer that one day the world, even as it reeks of the rot of man’s sin, will show the mercy that we have been shown by God.

I have a prayer that all children will one day live in a world where they will not be judged according to a perceived burden, but by the inherent life and soul they possess, being made in the image and likeness of God.

I have a prayer of petition today!

I have a prayer that one day, in this world, with its “pro-choice” supporters, with its leaders unleashing the chains under pretenses of “women’s rights” – one day in every corner of our world, a child, no matter the manner conceived, will be accepted and loved and allowed to grow, to thrive, to learn, and to one day decide to place his or her own life in the hands of God the Creator Himself.

I have a prayer of intercession today!

I have a prayer that one day the chilled, iron hearts of men will melt, our leaders will remove the self-interested magnets from their moral compasses, doctors will return the power of taking lives to God alone, and God will enlighten many to recognize the logical beginning of a human life at conception; for as said by the prophet Ezekiel, “I will give them another heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh; that they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord.”

This is our hope, and this is the gift of faith that we carry with us, rosary in hand, on our way to the prayerful protests on the street corners of abortion clinics.

  • Mississippians seem to have many qualities traditonal Catholics admire.

I read once where Mississippi had the highest level of charitable giving in the country, even though their state average income level was below the national average.

During Hurricaine Katrina, the Mississippi state police and emergency authorities
did an admirable job in keeping order, whereas similar authoriteis in New Orleans
    did not behave so well.

Now, we learn Mississippi is the first state to drive-off abortion.
(The temple rabbis must be screaming)

Obviously, some grace is present there ?

Let's pray that a group of trads open at least one Tridentine Mass Chapel there.

More graces flowing from Our Lord's altar in Thanksgiving, would be appropriate for this genteel, Southern state
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi
