New version of Advanced Editor installed on CathInfo
« on: September 08, 2021, 04:00:14 PM »
The SMF Advanced Editor I bought for use on CathInfo.com

https://www.smfpacks.com/wysiwyg/

Released a couple versions in the last couple years. So last November I pulled the trigger and bought another year of updates --

I was using 2.1.6 when I let my software update subscription expire a couple years ago. Since then, they released 3.0 and 3.0.2.

Today I installed 3.0.2, and it DOES look like an improvement!

The main glitch I was willing to pay $30 to fix: when you quote someone, any blank lines you type in your response were REMOVED. This was so annoying, it caused some users to put "." for each blank line, to purposely space out posts. I did something similar -- I would make my response, and then go back and add the blank lines in (it would work the second time, but never the first time, when the post was first written)

Anyhow, I think it's fixed! Let me know what you think.

NOTE: YOU NEED TO CLEAR YOUR BROWSER CACHE to download all the latest, UPDATED javascript and other files associated with this new version (3.0.2) to your local browser. If you don't clear your cache, your browser WILL use the old version of the software (2.1.6) with the old glitch(es) intact.

Test. Test.

Looks different.

Seems I have to hit enter twice to get a line break for some reason.

Strange quirk.

If it only cost $30 to fix that annoying issue, you could have just asked and I would have happily sent you the money.  For the first time in forever, I did not have to hit "Preview" and re-add the line breaks for this post ... what a huge relief.  It's like you removed an icepick from my brain.

At first, I tried to work with the company's tech support to get it fixed. Eventually I gave up. Then I just hoped that "time" would heal it -- apparently it did!

I don't know at what point 3.0 or 3.0.2 was released (whichever version fixed the bug) but I'm glad it's fixed now.

LOVE the new editor!  So far, it doesn't seem to have that extremely irritating quirk of wiping out your hard breaks, forcing you to go back into the preview and insert them all over again.
