  • The new Baptism of Desire subforum is located under the Crisis in the Church subforum.

    http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php?a=forum&f=28

    Yes, it's a bit buried. No, I don't care.

You'll note that I moved a TON of BoD posts into there.

If you click on anyone's name, you'll notice their favorite forum % is quite a bit smaller now -- as many members' loyalties are now divided between Crisis in the Church and BoD instead of all going into the same category (Crisis).

If I moved "the rest" of the BoD threads there, I'm confident that some members would have a new favorite subforum! But I don't have time to move *all* of them. It took me long enough to move the ones I moved.

In fact, Bowler (who I recently banned) now has a new favorite subforum -- 42% of his posts are in the new BoD subforum. If I moved the rest of the threads, that % would be even higher.

I moved the largest threads first -- 10 pages of posts or more. That's the "low hanging fruit" as it were.

Needless to say -- if you find any new BoD posts in the Crisis subforum or anywhere else, please let me know.

And DON'T POST BoD THREADS ANYWHERE ELSE. There will be consequences if you do.

  • Just seeing this.  Sounds good.

  • I appreciate your effort moving the threads there Matthew, but I got robbed with the new statistics - I'm going to have to dump a bunch of recipes in the "Catholic Living in the Modern World" section to bring down the averages (...hehehe)

    Bowler (who I recently banned)

Is it a temp ban or do you want him gone forever?

  • I haven't decided yet.

He willfully and publicly violated a rule of the forum.

And now I can see just what a high % of his posts were about BoD.

On the other hand, I have my nice "Feeneyite zone" set up, so people can go around and around the hamster wheel all they want and leave the rest of us alone.

Do I *really* need another obsessive Feeneyite on CathInfo? I am certainly willing to entertain the possibility that the answer is "no".

P.S. Has anyone noticed that over 16,000 posts have been made about Baptism of Desire? Try to consider the possibility that what you're about to post has already been posted...multiple times.

Seeing it all in one place MIGHT make a SLIGHT impression on A FEW PEOPLE.

bowler contacted me after the ban and said that he wasn't aware of this rule since he had been away from the forum for a while (had a new daughter).

  • A very wise and commendable action Matthew. Corralling this subject to its own pasture will prevent other subjects from being overtaken and hijacked.
    Thanks.

Just for clarification:  Does this include references to BoD and BoDer's, etc within threads that involve another subject?  Because this was something that happened on the regular.

If a thread goes majorly BoD, I'd probably move it.

The threads I moved so far were obvious -- but I bet there were quite a few hidden under obscure titles.

So if anyone comes across any, please let me know.

Keeping things in the right subforum helps the "favorite subforum %" stats to be more accurate.
