  • I couldn't find the "M.P.", only an article in German. It sounds from the article as it has been promulgated. Unless is April's Fools Day in Italy, it sure sounds like Francis. The translation is poor, the Italian is below. (Emphasis mine)

Hypothetical Motu Proprio of Pope Francis on the liturgy.

There he wrote a friend a hypothetical docuмent on the liturgy of Pope Francis. A bitter smile, with a hint of bitterness (and nostalgia), but always with respect for the Holy Father.

Liturgy, poverty and evangelization, starting from the suburbs.

The Holy Father Francis has promulgated the motu proprio "Nobilis austeritas" on the Sacred Liturgy, starting his work of reform just what is "the source and summit of the life of the Church", as stated in the words of the Council, taken by the Pope in the first lines of the docuмent. The text, largely prepared by the then Cardinal Bergoglio for his diocese was left in the drawer after his election and now, with the necessary modifications has been published to give it to the universal Church.

The motu proprio opens with a brief historical development of the liturgy through the centuries and the work of the Bishops of Rome; then explores the ideas already expressed in the homily of the Mass of the Chrism about the "symbolism" of vestments, so the beauty of the liturgy "which is not mere decoration and taste for drapes, but the presence of the glory of our God that shines in all its people live and comforted. "

Pope Francis concludes the introductory part highlighting the close link between the beauty of the liturgy and the New Evangelization, before indicating some specific provisions in the name of austerity, intended to create a sensation.

For example, the request to abolish the chasubles, using only planet whose shape requires less cloth; for the same reason, the same will be cut chasubles existing "in the form of the planet, and the fabric is advanced confezionino clothes for the poor"; mandatory, even in the ordinary form, "the handful of tears and pain, the symbolism of which makes us very close to the poor and to the practice of the Beatitudes"; In addition, stop the translations in languages, "to be celebrated only in Latin in order to avoid the financial expenditure for the publishing and printing missals and the lezionar"; hairpieces built altars in the churches "are removed and used to build new churches, donating to the parishes of the suburbs", but even there, provides the papal docuмent, "are against the wall in order to save space and avoid an excessive prolongation of the presbytery to sacrifice the space for the people of God "; at the request of the Holy Father, these and other provisions will in force in a very short time, as early as next May 30.

  • I tried to do the search as well.  Only some German and Italian articles turned up, the names didn't suggest satire sites, but not knowing either language I can't be sure.

A motu proprio on the liturgy will be big news if it's true.  We shouldn't have too long to wait for details.
Pray the Holy Rosary every day!!

  • Sounds like a "Go and make a mess" advise from Francis. I got this email, doesn't have the source:

Nobilis austeritas - Motu proprio on liturgy, poverty and evangelization from the edges (or at least almost)

    May 26, 2014 10:49 | Message to the Editor

New Motu proprio of Pope Francis to the liturgy(Rome) A "friend of St. Francis of Assisi" has provided the following fictitious explanation of the Press Office of the Holy See to one, as fictitious, Motu proprio of Pope Francis has just adopted on the liturgy with a series of sensational provisions. Also humor is to be, for where the line between humor and satire is, let the reader decide for themselves.

    Motu proprio Nobilis austeritas

The Holy Father today the Motu proprio Nobilis austeritasadopted on the Sacred Liturgy. He wants to send a strong signal that his work of the Holy Church to "source and summit of the Church's life" renewal begins, as the words of the Council reaffirm that were taken over by the Pope in the first lines of the docuмent. The contents of the motu proprio was still prepared in large part by the then Cardinal Bergoglio for his diocese, but remained by his choice for the time being in the drawer. Now, it seemed appropriate to the Holy Father to bestow it with some necessary changes throughout the universal Church.
The Motu proprio begins with a brief historical excursus on the development of the Divine Liturgy in the course of the centuries and ministry and mission of the bishops of Rome. Then, it deepened the ideas presented already in the homily of the Chrism Mass with the Holy Father to the "symbolism" of the sacred vestments and the beauty of the Liturgy, "that simply is not ornament and delight in beautiful robes, but the presence of the glory of our God, in the its vibrant and strengthened people finds its reflection. "

Pope Francis concludes the introductory part, by emphasizing the close connection between the beauty of the liturgy and the new evangelization. Then some specific rules to follow in the sign of the "noble simplicity" that are intended to cause a stir.

The Pope calls for the abolition of modern chasubles and the primary use of the armfreien, fuel-economy-Roman chasuble. The existing modern chasubles are cut in the form of the Roman Chasuble and sewn from the recovered excess fabric clothes for the poor. Furthermore, the Holy Father requires that the maniple is to be worn again in the ordinary form of the Roman Rite, those "maniple of tears and pain, whose symbolism within the meaning of the Beatitudes naheseinläßt us especially the poor."

The Pope has the suppressions of the Missal translations into the vernacular languages. The Holy Father writes: "It also celebrates only in Latin, the universal language of the Church, which unites the people of God on the move around the world and the communion and unity of the faithful out sweeps. In addition, in order to put a financial waste for the production of a variety of translations and printing of various Missal spending. "In addition, the Pope, that the installation of new altars in churches, where there is already one such unit, is prohibited has to unnecessary to stop wasting resources on a useless Altardoppelung. The already inserted additional altars "to be re-moved and for new church buildings in that they are given to the poorer parishes around the edges".

The papal docuмent specifies further stated that "the altar shall always be placed on the wall to save space for the liturgical action in the sanctuary." Above all unnecessary extensions of the presbytery are prohibited in the nave inside to the people of God not his to take place in the Church and to save unnecessary costs. The money saved from unnecessary conversion work in the churches funds should be provided needy parishes around the edges available. The provisions of the Motu proprio occur at the express request of the Holy Father Nobilis austeritasalready May 30 in force.
The love of God be your motivation, the will of God your guiding principle, the glory of God your goal.

  • The text is clearly satire, read carefully it says "hypothetical docuмent". A brief google search confirms this.
"Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day become a formal heretic ... This is a statement I would sign in my blood." St. Montfort, Secret of the Rosary. I support the FSSP, the SSPX and other priests who work for the restoration of doctrinal orthodoxy and liturgical orthopraxis in the Church. I accept Vatican II if interpreted in the light of Tradition and canonisations as an infallible declaration that a person is in Heaven. Sedevacantism is schismatic and Ecclesiavacantism is heretical.
