• I'm sure most people can guess whose coat-of-arms are displayed to either side of the new CathInfo header graphic.

It's my way of showing support for these bishops of the Resistance to Modernism.

If you're still seeing the Easter lilies, you need to hit <F5> in your browser.

Nego--at least not in recent versions of Firefox. Wherein a solo <F5> = Refresh (the action Matthew certainly intended). But a <SHIFT> & <F5> = Tools → Web Developer → Profiler.

What browser causes you to think otherwise? Or did you customize your browser key-strokes so long ago that you'd forgotten having done it?

  • We have a lion and a lamb. Is that anything like good cop / bad cop?

  • The lion with a sword reminds me of another classic --

What's stronger and cooler than a lion? A lion wielding a big sword!

It's decidedly male, I'll give you that.

P.S. I really miss Calvin and Hobbes. Such a philosophical comic strip; I still enjoy reading them today. But not literally today -- I have work to do! See yas.

  • Just curious, is there a size/dimension limit to the header image?

As a matter of fact, there is.

A forum like CathInfo can't have a huge header (like Non Possumus, for example) because this isn't a blog.

Just look at how much is on the main page, or any thread you click on. Would you want to have to scroll that much more every time you click on "next page" of a topic, a new subforum, a new topic, and so forth?

A blog has far fewer "posts" per day and they all appear one after the other, so you just keep scrolling down, down, down. The size of the header then becomes irrelevant.

A forum is a whole different animal than a blog, despite some people getting them confused. (I still don't understand this confusion -- a blog is a one-person affair, whereas a forum is a place for hundreds or thousands of people to discuss topics, where everyone has an equal voice and an equal prominence.)

It would be like mixing up a screwdriver and a hammer (handyman), diesel and gasoline (mechanic) or a stimulant and a depressant (medicine). Or debits and credits (accounting). Or being on foot vs. on horseback (ranching). You get the idea: Completely distinct.

My Favorite Calvin and Hobbs cartoon!

I defer to page 25 of April 2015 The Recusant, in "Interview with Fr. Faure" (the day before he became Bishop Faure) -- IF you have a copy, you can see an image with more detail of the new coat of arms on page 19, among the photos of the consecration itself:

Can you explain to us the essence of your coat of arms?
In the centre is the Lamb of the Apocalypse, the Alpha and the Omega, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, announced by Isaiah. The hearts recall the Vendee martyrs of the revolution and the Fleur de Lys is the emblem of Catholic France. The motto, "ipsa conteret" ("she shall crush") is taken from the Vulgate, Genesis 3,15 where God promises the victory of the Virgin Mary over the dragon.

On a personal note, it is very providential that Bishop Faure has chosen "Ipsa conteret" for his motto, for this is one phrase of two in all of Scripture that has been universally corrupted by ALL subsequent translations since Gutenberg's Bible (in Latin) and the Douay-Rheims version (in English). The KJV, Jerusalem, New Jerusalem, Revised Standard Version, Good News, and on and on -- they all say something different from "...she shall crush..." The other phrase is found in Luke 1,28: "Hail, full of grace..." Ave Maria, gratia plena...

There is even a "NEW LATIN VULGATE" that attempts to put the nonsense errors into Latin for ersatz 'traditionalists' to use so as to not offend any Modernists.

It is most telling that in both cases the pandemic error concerns Our Lady, "the destroyer of all heresies."
