My screen-name

  • So lately, I've had a few people (Vladimir and Diego in particular) questioning my screen-name and acting as if I'm implying I am the Holy Ghost. So I am going to clarify my screen-name once again:

When I signed up on Catholic Answers, I was looking for a screen-name in Latin. I thought SpiritusSanctus was the best fit and chose it, then chose it again for CatholicInfo. SpiritusSanctus means "Holy Ghost". I in no way chose the screen-name to imply that I am holy, that I the Holy Ghost or that I am equal to the Holy Ghost. Using the logic of those who have said I'm implying this, St. Jude Thaddeus shouldn't have chosen his screen-name since he implies he's equal to a Saint. I could understand if chose Jesus as my screen-name, but there's nothing wrong with honoring the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.

So this is just a clarification after Vladimir and Diego appeared offended by my screen-name. Hopefully this will clear things up for you.

    God Bless.

  • People are just jealous that you have a cool screen name and they don't.

  • I know I have made this same issue in the past regarding screennames, maybe even yours SS.

But everyone should know SpiritusSanctus is actually a person with the Catholic faith, and not an imposter like these moles would like to have us believe. Him and I have gone through some arguments in the past, our views differ on what to do during this tumultuous period in Church history, yet I respect the man regardless. He is Catholic and there is not much anyone out there can do to ridicule him in my eyes. SS does not deserve the calumny that is coming his way regarding his screenname.

  • It isn't that anyone is implying that you have the temerity to associate your posts with the Holy Ghost; it's more like the posters you named don't want to subliminally associate the memory of your posts with the 3rd person of the Holy Trinity in their prayers.

What's in a username? Are they really accurate or intimate reflections of our personality? If so, I wouldn't have chosen the name "Vladimir", which has absolutely nothing to do with my personality or anything remotely related to my life.

When you brought this up in a previous thread, I noted that on another forum, users were forbidden to take the names or titles of Christ, The Blessed Virgin, and the Saints, Popes, etc for the very reason that I elucidated above.

  • Well Vladimir, according to your logic, St Jude Thaddeus, Gregory I, Matthew, and Stephen Francis should all change their screen-names since they imply that they are Saints. You are just going way overboard. I would hope that people who sign up choose religious screen-names. This is a Traditional Catholic forum afterall.
