Her youngest was just 3 years old. She was driving home from Mass when this happened. Considering that I heard about this from 2 different Trad Catholics -- and the size of her family -- I'm going to assume she was a Traditional Catholic.
Death can make an un-announced visit at any time, to any one of us. What are the chances that this young lady considered that this day might be her last?
Normally when you have a child as young as 3, you expect to live for at least another 2 decades.
How sad! Now there is another large Traditional Catholic family out there without a mother. Think of all those children!
What's worse, is that I recall several other cases in the past few years where a large Trad Catholic family lost its mother, usually due to an unexpected tragedy like this. How will they cope? Did they homeschool? Who will watch the children while the dad works? It boggles the mind.
They will need lots of prayers -- I hope everyone here will remember them in their prayers and sacrifices.

The scary thing is, this looks just like a stretch of FM 78 a few miles from our house. Those country road curves can be deadly.
If you ever have a hard time believing how fragile your life is, just meditate on how any one of those oncoming cars could "cross that yellow line" and that's it for you.
Many people are afraid of flying, but it's DRIVING they should be afraid of. Being on the road is statistically much more dangerous. At least airplanes are highly regulated and crashes seldom occur. But you can't give a sobriety test to each of the millions of drivers that hit the road every day...

As the mother of a large family I have often wondered what the families that lose their mothers would do. I can't even imagine. I read somewhere that God takes a soul when it has the best chance at Heaven. May she rest in peace and may her family find comfort with Our Lady of Sorrows. :pray:

Yes they are traditional Catholic. This is the same lady that clarkaim requested prayers for yesterday. Most of their children were away at schools. Several are in the SSPX school up in Ontario and two are abroad, Germany and Australia iirc. This is hitting a lot of people pretty hard.

That's pretty heartbreaking. It's a day of fast tomorrow - might be a good idea to keep her and her family in our intentions.

Looks like the truck driver who killed her was DUI

my wife heard today thru the network of women who will help w/ meals and such in the coming days that Cathy's son, Gerard, broke his pelvis and has possible internal injuries, not sure yet. Here's the kicker - He refused any pain medication in order to offer up his sufferings up for his mother. That is a Catholic saint in the making if there ever was one. Kinda makes you put things in perspective.

This is a very sad story. It looks like a few members here know the Nienaber family. Nine kids, my Lord she must have been a saint.
May Our Lord's perpetual light shine upon Catherine Nienaber.
God help the Nienaber family.

Tell me about it. DUI and DWI's is a sore spot for me.
