The Most Rev. Patrick Taylor, SVM, has reposed today.
Bishop
Patrick Taylor did indeed pass to his eternal reward at approximately
noon on Thursday,
November 8.
As an
independent Roman Catholic bishop, Taylor was the latest superior of the
Society of the Virgin Mary (SVM) [‡]. He had endured repeated illnesses in recent years, which included at least three heart attacks. It was the final
heart attack, for which attempts failed at revival, that was responsible for the sad news [†] (whose confirmation I'm overdue to post).
Bishop Taylor had become increasingly frail over the last several years, to a degree that became obvious when he would need to be assisted up steps at the foot of the altar, or in rising from genuflection when the altar was beyond reach.[

A
requiem Mass of memorial for Taylor was scheduled to be celebrated at Sacred Heart Traditional Catholic Church (SHTCC) in Orlando (Fla.) at noon today. [†]

de facto pastor of SHTCC in Orlando (Fla.). He had received telephone notification from a priest associated with Taylor in their shared home state West Virginia (Taylor's
de facto parish is in Beckley, W.V.).

Note ‡: According to the SHTCC webmaster, the Web site that had served dual roles, i.e., for Taylor and SVM, disappeared several years ago. Taylor once alluded to a dispute with his site's creator, but did not elaborate. The latter's implementation certainly seemed quite amateurish while it was accessible.
