Hello
What is it that Traditional Catholics feel is wrong about the Mormon religion? What fundimental differences are there that so greatly seperate the two?
thx
Mike
The Mormons have some very, very strange and unorthodox beliefs, for example; they do not believe in the Catholic definition of the Trinity, they believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three separate entities (literally three Gods).
They believe that God the Father has a body of flesh and bones and used to be a man on another planet, and currently lives on a planet (or near a star) named Kolob. There he and his many Heavenly Wives produce "spirit children" who then become humans on earth. Further, they claim that we too can become gods after our deaths and create our own worlds. In addition, they also believe that Lucifer is actually God the Father's eldest son but, Jesus was chosen over him to be the redeemer of mankind. This can all be verified by reading their "scriptures" (the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price).
In case you weren't aware about what the Book of Mormon is about, it's about a Hebrew of the tribe of Manasseh named Lehi who due to persecution in Jerusalem travels to the Americas with his wife, their sons (Nephi, Laman, Lemuel, and Sam) and their wives. Eventually, the Lamanites wiped out the Nephites and as a punishment God turned their skin red, and this is the Mormon explanation for the Amerindians. The Book of Mormon also claims that after His Resurrection, Jesus came to the Americas to preach to the Indians.
I kid you not. This is what they believe.
