As someone who has no desire to marry or have children (I never have wanted children because I'm not cut out for motherhood), I have to disagree with this. My dog is part of my family, and I'm not about to treat her like some stupid animal who befriends anyone who pays attention to her.

I was being a bit tongue in cheek in my comment above yours.

I tend to think of my pets as part of the family.  (Including my late wife's cat who for most of its life hated me and whom I regarded as like the part of the family that includes relatives who come for a visit and then refuse to leave, and frequently vomit on the carpet right beside my bed.)  I have a cat now, with whom I get along famously, and two dogs.  ( I am grieving the death of a third.  I was also in the end saddened by the death of the above mentioned cat, with whom I eventually reached an understanding.)  So I think animals are great.  They are not children, however.  They are not like children, the same as children, or replacements for children.  They are pets.  That is all they are, but that is plenty in itself.  They don't need to be turned into something they are not.  

The article should be titled they are choosing college and work instead of marriage or the convent. Unmarried woman should not be choosing motherhood.

You are right that promuscuity should not be praised but I don't think it should be seen as the greatest of evils either, especially with Hollywood and the popular culture praising it. When that happens why should we be suprised that teenagers have sex? Also one should see the birth of a child as a good thing no matter the circuмstance.

TG fornication is a mortal sin.
All children are blessings, it's not something that depends on the circuмstance of their birth.
I agree chastity is not valued in our culture for the most part and young people lack example and adults to guide and protect them.

Being a woman you are made to be a mother, it may be biological children or it may be spiritual children. Please don't discount your abilities or believe the world's values on what a mother should be.

God gives parents, especially through the sacrament of marriage, so many graces, if they are willing to co-operate with Him. His providence gives a woman everything she needs to overcome faults and weaknesses to be a good mother. And of course, we have the intercession and example of Our Lady.

We should simply desire to be what He wants us to be, instead of focusing on what pleases ourselves most.  :baby:

It seems to me that this trend (the OP) is an outgrowth of decay in civilization.  We live in a time when many people living in large cities are too removed from what it means to have meat for food (someone has to butcher the animals) or skins to wear (someone has to skin the animals) and other by-products of animals.  

That's why they have all that time to settle into thinking that raising animals for the products they yield is somehow an evil thing.  

And women who have bought into this liberalism are acting in accord with the philosophy and thinking that would have us approve of abortion, euthanasia, sex change operations and Sodomite 'marriage'.  They might not exactly agree with those moral crimes but they will eventually because that's what Liberalism does to you:  eventually you accept the whole package if you can't resist its first tenets.

The devil doesn't need wacky liberalism to take Moslems to hell -- they deny the Blessed Trinity and the divinity of Our Lord, so the devil has all he needs with them.  It's the Christians whom the devil needs to use Liberalism against like a weapon.  So the damned devil is just doing what he has to do:  use Liberalism against the Christians.  It has the added benefit of making western culture appear to the Moslems as The Great Satan.  That works for satan, too.

I'm all in favor of pets, but this is plain silly!  You see plenty of homos with canine and feline "children" around New York.  (I'd rather not see them at all, but better they have animals than adopted babies!)  The same may go for a self-centered "career" single.
