  • What do you think ladies?

    Could you "handle it"?

P.S.  My last post on this thread.

P.P.S.  I like how the Muslims advertise their womens' clothes; very respectful, in my opinion.

    No.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

  • I love it. It's graceful and elegant, and beautiful.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • What, no Chasidic ladies' fashions?

Sorry for being sardonic, but Catholic praise of Mohammedan "virtues" never fails to depress me.

Mohammedans and "orthodox" Jєωs cover their women not from any genuine understanding of modesty, but from a warped and depraved view of human nature.

As bad as things are in our post-Catholic West, it is not yet so bad that me must flee for refuge in the culture of our enemies (just because they happen to also be our enemies' enemies).

There are still modest women's clothes to be found, and in Western fashions (I know, my wife wears it). One need only be resourceful and persistent.

You read my mind. Excellent post!

Why must we hold the muhammedans in any regard but contempt?

Our women deserve better. We, the men, deserve better.

  • Oh I'm not praising the virtue of the Mohammedans here. I'm just admiring something nice. I would wear that myself (without the dumb head scarf.)

    Hehe.

I think the skirt underneath is very elegant and pretty. I would wear it with a nice blouse. But the long tunic looking thing is what I couldn't "handle". It would make me stand out too much, and I think I'd feel embarrassed by the stares or second glances.

I thought human nature was warped and depraved?

Anyway, I find it hard to believe there's a problem for a trad Catholic with women dressing modestly no matter what faith they come from.

    Having said that. I know of one modestly dressed woman we could all agree with;

  • This isn't very widely known, but in many Moselm circles, when it is only women around, they dress like trash and try to out-do one another in finery and hairstyles. It isn't about modesty with many of them.

  • Uh, the dress is too short and the slip is showing!  The eyes are drawn to the denim hemline.  Contrasted against flesh-tone, the overall effect is that of a mini-skirt. The woman is faceless because the men want them that way.  A body on legs, fit for work, pleasure and child-bearing, but no identity or brain.  The brain stem is sufficient.  If the denim reached ankle-length and had no head-gear, it would be attractive. As is, I wouldn't be caught dead in it.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • Here are a few shots of women in traditional Maltese fashions, including the ghonella, a traditional head-covering / mantle. No Maltese lady would be seen in public without one (until the 60's-70's, sadly).

Just thought it might be inspirational to see some modest ladies' fashions from a culture that was - in living memory - as Catholic as any the world has ever known:

It is not. Human nature is fallen and damaged but not depraved. Total depravity is a doctrine of the Calvinist heretics.

I didn't say "total depravity" but we basically deal with concupiscence till the day we die.A "darkened" intellect and ignorance according to St. thomas Aquinas.

    No John Calvin here.
