  • Is that just while you're in a call that it's dangerous? Or while its switched on?

I carry my phone in my pocket almost all day and sleep with it close to my bed. Hope it hasn't had adverse effects I don't know about!

I'd heard that it's only when it's transmitting that it's risky. So it's safe while you're composing a text, so when you click send, you should point the phone away from people.

Also, I remember hearing that it's advisable, when you're talking, to move the phone about so that it's not always pointing at the same bit of your head!

  • Here's the problem with cell phones, laid out simply:

    A) they are everywhere -- about as popular as TV sets
    B) It takes 10 years (or more) for adverse health effects to be found out about -- but by then it will be too late for many people! Tumors don't form overnight after one cell phone call.
    C) Cigarettes weren't considered dangerous 60 years ago.
    D) Compared with smoking, far more people use cell phones.
    E) Little kids use them -- a lot! Some people don't even have a "land line" anymore. So if junior is going to talk to his friend, or Grandma, it will be on a cell phone.

All in all, I'm glad I got rid of my cell phone a couple years ago to save money. Now I'm abstaining from cell phones for TWO reasons (at least).

And most Filipinos love to text around than call! So, perhaps it's healthier with us than in the US.

Sadly, my mother prefers calling because she's not used in typing sms...
