  • What Missal would you all recommend for assistance at an SSPX Mass?

  • The SSPX officially uses the 1962 Missal and that is the missal they sell to their parishoners.

Some people prefer the older missals.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear.  I don't mean which year, I mean which publisher.  Do you all tend to favor one over another?  I'm looking to buy a new one.

Thank you.  You would personally recommend Angelus Press then?

  • I have the SSPX Missal from Angelus Press and it is fine. Some people prefer older missals because they were printed before some of the changes were made and they have a different Holy Week and some feasts that were abolished and Saint Joseph was added to the canon. But the SSPX doesn't follow these older missals.

My favorite, quite usable with sspx, is the Fr. Faber Daily Missal.  There are a few slight differences, but the correct Masses can all be found.  Reprints are larger-print than the originals, but if you can find one, an original is best quality.  I have a 1923 original, gold-embossed leather covers, still in original box wrapped in cellophane!  Published by Benzinger Bros.  Cost me $3.50 in a thrift store in Washington, D.C.  At least SOMETHING good can be said to be coming from Washington!  (Sorry, it's not for sale.)
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • Father Bolduc recommended this one instead. He never used the 1962 missal.
