Anyone have any thoughts on this? Seems to me he was a man that was controlled by others with the use of drugs etc. Can you imagine a popular group or performer singing about the rosary these days? Out on a limb, but I think he tried.

There was a real spiritual side to Elvis before the world overcame him.

I believe he actually got his start singing in "Gospel" like many southerners.

I sent the link to a few friends yesterday and got two true stories back, both had nice things to say about Elvis.

I will say this, although I was never a fan, the guy had a really decent voice. However, he fell under the influence of some very manipulative, morally indifferent music industry and Hollywood professionals.

He could have played it clean as a whistle and ended up just as popular and rich. I even remember when he went into honorable service in the Army in the 50s.

I witnessed the birth of rock and roll and saw it go from Elvis and then on to the hideous garbage that erupted in the 60s. I lost all interest, long before most of my contemporaries.
