The Real Presence..

“Be Still and Know that I am God”

These words have a special ring to them.  They always appeal to me.  Perhaps it is the troubled and crazy times we live in, or perhaps it is just me!

Today I want to offer you a very beneficial booklet which also happens to be a very popular booklet with our America Needs Fatima family.

But if you have the time to be still for just a moment, I want to tell you a story.

It is a story that made a deep impression on me.

We, Catholics, believe in the Real Presence, we have no doubt about it.  But still, when we come across a miracle confirming this Truth, our Catholic souls always rejoice.

I read this many years ago and I have kept this to share with you today.

The story I read was from Father Albert J. Byrne, and the title of the article was Nature’s Evidence of the Real Presence.

Here is the story as it was printed:

On the evening of the last day of his October 1995 visit to the United States, Pope John Paul II was scheduled to greet the seminarians at Saint Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. It had been a very full day that began with a Mass at Oriole Park in Camden Yards; a parade through downtown streets; a visit to the Basilica of the Assumption, the first cathedral in the country; lunch at a local soup kitchen run by Catholic Charities; a prayer service at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in North Baltimore; and finally a quick stop at Saint Mary’s Seminary.

The schedule was tight so the plan was simply to greet the seminarians while they stood outside on the steps. But the Pope made his way through their ranks and into the building. His plan was to first make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament. When his wishes were made known, security  flew into action. They swept the building, paying close attention to the chapel where the Pope would be praying. For this purpose, highly trained dogs were used to detect any person who might be present.

The dogs are trained to locate survivors in collapsed buildings after earthquakes and other disasters. These highly intelligent and eager dogs quickly went through the halls, offices and classrooms and were then sent to the chapel. They went up and down the aisles, past the pews and finally into the side chapel where the Blessed Sacrament is reserved. Upon reaching the tabernacle, the dogs sniffed, whined, pointed, and refused to leave, their attention riveted on the tabernacle, until called by their handlers. They were convinced that they discovered someone there. We Catholics know they were right—they found a real, living Person in the tabernacle!

Every time I read this story I feel uplifted. God is often testing our Faith, but from time to time He gives us a pearl like this to boost our Faith and help us move onward and upward in our spiritual journey.

I present this story , as it was sent to me , to open a discussion on the value and merits of it s content, as related to the Novus Ordo Mass.

Point A... If the real presence was there , and there is nothing to believe it was not..

what does that say for the consecration of the Host

What does that say for the Priest who consecrated the Host

What does that say for the words of Consecration of the NO Priests

What words were used

What does that say for the Mass

Comments ...

Apropos, BD.

I think Director is making the point that if indeed the story is true, and if the reaction of the dogs indicated a detection of Christ in the tabernacle, that the N.O. consecration is valid - at least by this particular N.O. priest -  which is vehemently denied by many trads.

Those are critical "ifs" though.

That's Exactly what I was saying.. Maybe the Norus Ordo is a valid Mass

How About all the armchair theologians out there...

Care to comment.  ???

PerEvangelicaDicta already answered it.  You can't do theology based on assumptions regarding these uncertain events.

Did this even happen?  If it happened, was the account exaggerated or embellished in some way?  If it's completely accurate, then could something else have caught the interest of the dogs (e.g. a sanctuary lamp, the gleam of the tabernacle, someone once dropped some food on the floor, or a priest who smoked joints during marijuana "Masses")?

There's nothing here, so let's move along.

The story does not prove Christ is present.  It does not prove that there is validity.
It does not prove you have a ordained priest. It is just a story.

I'm inclined to disbelieve it, especially seeing the source.

Out of curiosity, I did a search, but cannot find any corroboration.

Nadir, is ANF an unreliable site?  (I'm not too familiar with it)

America/Australia/wherever needs Fatima is a work of Tradition Family Property. They are a new order organisation (some would say cult). I am not saying they are dishonest in publishing such stuff. It could be just naivety. Nevertheless I don't trust them.

I believe there have been threads are them here on CathInfo.

As songbird said, all it is is a story that in typical NO fashion, is meant to inspire the secular and NO crowd.

Dogs cannot speak so there is no way to know why they focused on the tabernacle, which was probably in niche in a side room or basement or some other inconspicuous place, you know, a place similar that dogs often find human remains after a calamity. We do know the tabernacle wasn't on the altar because the NO stopped using altars 50 years ago, nor was it on the table because it would only get in the way of the show. It is entirely probable that the oil from human hands mauling the dog bowl like ciborium that NOers use is what they were smelling.

I'm with Ladislaus - there's nothing here, so let's move along.
