Here's a bizarre story for you, and from my neck of the woods.  Millions of dead anchovies and other fishies have inundated the water and there is no good explanation.  This happened in the South Bay of California, where the three beach towns are Manhattan Beach -- where I live -- then Hermosa Beach, then Redondo Beach.

I can't say it was my dream to die of rotting fish-gut intoxication but hey, you have to go sometime.  I wonder if I should go down there and offer to help out.

  • Now they're saying these are mostly sardines, not anchovies...

More as this story develops.  Right now, I have to go get a box of Saltines and some mustard.

  • Lets hope that this is not caused by Gulf Oil Disaster. If so then the crap is making its way to all the worlds oceans and the situation is indeed apocalyptic.

  • Similar things have been going on across the globe.  I have not researched it much, but many of the incidents are happening in areas close to notable faults.  I believe some have postulated that something is happening within the faults that is causing millions of birds and fish in the areas to drop dead.

There was a movie called 'Core' wherein animals and men with pacemakers were adversely affected by the changes in the earth's magnetics, which changes were felt more intensely in some spots than in others.

IMO, get out of CA.  I know it is not that simple for some, but the near future for CA does not look good.

  • I saw on the news of thousands of dead fish creatures off
Florida, and thousands of Eagles have been found dead in
    Washington.
I believe this is a sign of worse things ahead.
I lived in Palos Verdes, in the 50's and the 60's, and
attended St Lawrence Martyr, and was in the class that
    graduated in 1962.
In those days, the tuition was only $5.00 a month.
I was Baptized in old St. James Church.
I remember Redondo Beach, and its movie theaters,
the Fox, and the Strand, now long since gone.

  • Gladius, as you know, that is very much on my mind.  My plan, such as it is, is to go to Idaho and perhaps teach at CMRI for a while if they'll have me ( which is uncertain ).  Then on to France.

I heard the hypothesis about an imminent earthquake.  My personal earthquake sensor is not going off.  But I think it's a sure bet that will happen within the decade, the long-awaited Big One.  My reasoning is that no one talks about it anymore, and in my experience, that is when it's time to be afraid.

RomanCatholic1953, I was in Palos Verdes tonight with a friend of mine, walking my dog along Palos Verdes Drive West, enjoying the sunset.  She was a parishioner at St. Lawrence along with her mother.  So I am haunting your old haunts, at least for the moment.  She was talking about a monsignor who was there at St. Lawrence in the early 60's and is still there, Monsignor Collins, maybe you know of him.  With the tact and finesse for which I am famed, I asked if he was a heretic.  She said she was going to dinner with him, she'd report back to me.

I was born in 1976 so I don't remember all the changes in this area -- she probably does.  I do have vague childhood memories of seeing Rear Window at the Bijou Theater in Hermosa Beach -- remember the Bijou? -- and of Marineland in Palos Verdes.  They have pictures of the old Marineland at the new Trader Joe's in Palos Verdes.  I remember being terrified of the shark tank which looked all dirty and foul and sinister, it didn't look all pristine and pretty like the Sea World shark tank.

I am already feeling panicked at the thought of not living by the ocean.  You'd probably have to be born near the ocean to understand.  I will miss my old briny habitat.  Dead fish apocalypses and tsunami-warning signs help ease the pain, though.

  • Hey, RomanCatholic, did you know Cardinal Mahoney lives or lived in Manhattan Beach?  Along with Cardinal Levada?!  ACK!  Talk about a small world -- Levada is a direct connection to Ratzinger, he is Ratzinger's successor as the head of the Congregation of the Doctrine for the Faith ( which used to be the Inquisition ).  This is almost like Ratzinger himself being in my hometown, though it is worlds apart.

I just found this tonight in a Christ or Chaos article:

    Quote
"Levada, Mahony and Niederauer jointly own a beach house in Manhattan Beach, California, where they must enjoy spinning their respective tales of how they have helped to push the envelope of the conciliar revolution."

That is completely crazy.  I just cannot imagine clergy or even faux-clergy living in a beach house here.  The area by the beach is called The Strand and is full of near-naked people all year round.  Besides this, some of the houses are extremely, extremely expensive, like tens of millions of dollars.  I think Sting has one, or had one at least.

  • I saw it on the website that Gladius told us about on the thread titled "Useful (?) Site..."

I just looked up the story about the eagles and it is currently on pg. 7 of the site.  There is a link at the bottom of their article to their source from theglobeandmail.com. Here's the link:

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/starving-eagles-falling-out-of-the-sky/article1918336/

I haven't verified it elsewhere.  Does anyone know if that is a credible source?
