  • Via the Youth Defence Facebook page. It raises the question of what approach should be taken. Personally, I see no problem with such a protest. Will it have an effect is another question. I'm sure like other events there is an objective to it.

I was asked to assist with unfurling a banner but I had to decline as the event clashed with an event of my own. A good complaint I guess. Our group is not as well funded as YD so leaflets etc etc are not as glossy.

My question is why the objection to this banner protest? It's much better than writing a letter to the editor or the naive lobbying of politicians who have lied from their lips and have blood on their hands.

  • I don't see why anyone would have a problem with the sign.

translation: I'm embarrassed by my pro-life identity, which is strictly a private stance for families and friends.  I want to get on in the world.  I'm a liberal, with some sentimental ideas about abortion, but I know it's much much worse to be considered a rude "right-wing extremist" than to be a polite pc liberal.

The same thing can be said for all conciliarists.

The reality is that when Benedict XVI blesses Obama and all his work, it's because Benedict XVI has much more in common with Obama than he has with those who believe in Christ's Social Reign.

  • People who are pro-life should support the point of the banner.  Liberals should support free speech.  I can't see any ideological reason to oppose this.

As John Grace says, however, whether it accomplishes anything is another matter.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir
