    • A very Blessed and Holy Christmas to all!

    Could you believe I am 70 years old, and tonight have three grandchildren to fill stockings from Santa, toys and candy under my tree just like I had for my 6 children, all adults now.  These three live with me 10 months out of 12 during the school year, just to attend the Mount.  

    Their parents were here for Thanksgiving but couldn't make it back for Christmas.  

    What fun, I tell them it is Jesus birthday, but because He is so very generous He wants all the children to have the gifts.  

    I met my husband on Christmass Day in 1957.   :wine-drinking:

    Joy to the world!

    So much to be thankful for!

    • Merry Christmas everybody, I'm new to these boards but I have enjoyed reading some of your very knowledgable posts.   We all have our own fond memories of Christmas past and the season always brings them to the fore, one memory I have very strongly is of when I was a little child and I had several brothers and sisters, my father had lost his job and to be fair I would say we were a poor family and rations were particularly frugal that year.
    I was playing out at the front of our house when I saw a very big man trudging through the snow, he wore a very big black overcoat and a trilby hat, I could see he had a red face and he was carring some very big boxes as he got nearer I recognised him as Father Kennedy from St Francis church and he asked me if my parents were in I told him they were and followed him into the house and the look of happiness and relief on my mothers face when Father Kennedy opened the boxes and they were full of many different foods and cakes  and all manner of Christmas goodies, I have never forgotten that day or how it changed our Christmas and sometimes it forces a tear to my eye just thinking about it
