  • I don't mean to be offensive, but sometimes it's hard to know if members are male or female.

Sometimes I have a good guess, but let's face it -- some usernames are completely androgynous. Latin expressions, etc.

    Help me out here?

If your name is obviously male or female, you don't need to reply to this thread.
Unless you are the OPPOSITE gender and your name is misleading. (For example, if "sspxbvm" is a male, you better tell me! The Blessed Virgin Mary is female!)

  • I made a suggestion months back that a feature indicating the gender of the poster would be nice.

I often think I am speaking to the opposite of what really is.  Then I discover the truth and am surprised.  When they register they could check a box, or those that are already registered could update their info.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Male. Never thought of my screen name as "androgynous," though...

  • I'm a dude.

I picked this name because I'd be joyous if someone sent the docuмents of Vatican II into deep space (or straight into the sun).
I was considering "Lamentably Sane" but someone (not me) already has a blog under that name.

    The Dude abides.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • I thought "gender" was used to refer to refer to nouns, not the sex of creatures.

  • Gender is for nouns, yes.

People don't like to say "sex" (it sounds dirty to them) so they say gender when they ask for male/female.

I fully agree, but sometimes I use "gender" in place of "sex" in the spirit of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"

:reading:  Apparently rules of language are disappearing faster than fish on Friday. Good call, but no one will listen.

Anyway, I'm a very handsome guy, but I'm already taken.

I'm also very old and I sleep too much.  I'm constantly worrying that Myrna will move on to her reward and I'll be designated oldest guy on the forum. Of course, Myrna's not I guy so I may already hold that distinction.  :geezer:

  • Gender sounds better to me.

    I am a male. 38 years old.

    Italian-Irish-English-Polish ancestry.

From the English I got my cooking skills, from the Polish my conversational skills, the Irish my work ethic, and the Italian gave me my law abiding nature, and driving skills.

Living proof of the success of mixing cultures!

    Sincerely,

    Shin
