Update: I forgot to request: I want everyone to UPVOTE each post where a member actually posts his REAL photo.
I have been doing this, and I can tell that others are too. I'm not just upvoting those I think are good looking (after all, most photos so far have been men!) but I'm knee-jerk upvoting them out of principle.
For those of you who claim to want to see everyone's photo, you in particular had better heed my request! Up-voting the good sports who post photos is one good way to promote the desired behavior.
Downvoting those who post silly photos is optional. I plant that idea in your head, and then leave that up to you :)
I will unpublish this thread in a week or two, so it won't be "out there" long term, or in Google.
In the meantime, I invite everyone brave enough to post a picture of themselves!
I'll go first:
The top picture is from my seminary days. It's from 15 years ago. I'm the one on the far right.
The 2 closest to me are also named Matthew. The one right next to me is the Canadian author of the "Life in the Seminary is like the movie Platoon" thread.
The one next to him (grinning at the camera) is from Oregon. He's quite handy with a log splitter -- I guess everyone has to be when you live in a state that is almost completely forested. He was the only classmate older than me, until Sean Johnson (yes, "that" Sean Johnson) arrived at the beginning of my class's First Year. (Most of my class started out in Zero Year, a.k.a. "Humanities") Why am I so aware of age/rank? Because in the seminary, age/rank is very much acknowledged. It determines where you sit in choir, so your "place" is always apparent. Even within the same class, everyone is ranked according to age. The seminary is a strict hierarchy. Eat your heart out, Democracy!
The one next to him (second from the left) is the brother of an SSPX priest. The SSPX priest is this man's younger brother, and his German last name begins with an F.
The first on the left just recently left the religious life (brother) in the SSPX. He was a seminarian or brother for almost 15 years. Imagine returning to the world after THAT!
These were all classmates of mine. The same year as Fr. Riccomini.
The bottom picture is from November 2015.
Trads are a real variety pack -- just look at this photo taken in front of Stella Maris Chapel.
I mean, the 3 Trads (excluding the priest/bishop) in this picture aren't even in the same BALL PARK when it comes to clothing style. More like 3 different planets...
I'm the one on the far left. I'll admit I look the dorkiest, and dress the poorest, of the 3 laymen pictured. I have a face for radio, and a voice for writing books! hahaha
I guess Trads just dare to be different!
