  • Todd Starnes has a tough job to do, but he really could have used stronger
language! These Communist Hate Mongers are running our government, and
they're punishing private business because it's not corrupt and EVIL like they
    are! The devil hates competition.

If it wasn't Friday, I'd be going to Chick-fil-A for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Note: they're not open Sunday, out of respect for the Lord's Day.
So you have tomorrow and all next week to show up and give Mr. Dan Cathy
a hearty "thumbs up" for his courage. What's the world coming to?

Boycott about so much more than a chicken sandwich
    By Todd Starnes
    Published July 31, 2012

Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel recently took a stance against Chick-fil-A, saying that they didn't represent the city's values.

There’s something about the public flogging of Chick-fil-A by government officials that seems un-American – lawmakers hell-bent on destroying a privately owned American company simply because of the owner’s personal opinions.

Democrats in more than a half dozen major cities have led the charge – slandering Chick-fil-A’s owner and calling for all-out bans on the company’s expansion efforts in places like Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston and San Francisco.

And Chick-fil-A’s only crime is being a family-owned company that ascribes to the teachings of the Holy Bible – a belief that marriage is a union between one man and one woman.

Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy has been called a bigot, a homophobe. The mayor of Washington, D.C., accused the company of peddling “hate chicken.”

Philadelphia City Councilman Jim Kenney introduced a resolution condemning the company -- and its president.

“This particular individual is rabidly homophobic and wants to deny Americans civil rights that are enjoyed by every other American,” Kenney said.

'The vicious left-wing assault against Chick-fil-A should serve as a wakeup call to people of faith.'

    -

There are efforts under way to shut down Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country. Student groups are launching similar campaigns on university campuses.

Lost in their outrage over a belief held by a majority of the American public, is the fact that Chick-fil-A employs thousands and thousands of people.

And with unemployment hovering around 8.2 percent, you have to wonder what sort of message Democrats are trying to send to the nation.

Perhaps the party of President Obama believes it’s morally better to be unemployed than to be anti-gαy marriage?

American Christians are facing uncertain times. Our nation’s values are under assault. Religious liberty has been undermined. We live in a day when right is now wrong and wrong is now right.

The vicious left-wing assault against Chick-fil-A should serve as a wakeup call to people of faith. It’s not about a chicken sandwich. It’s about the future of our country.

“Individuals have the right to decide whether or not to ‘eat mor chikin.’ But no government leader should restrict a business or organization from expanding to their district based on the personal or political views of the owners,” said Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals. “Such evident discrimination and attempts to marginalize those with religious values have no place in American democracy.”

Those who preach tolerance – are the least tolerant of all. And I suspect Councilman Kenney spoke for many when he issued a not-so-subtle threat to individuals like Dan Cathy who support traditional marriage.

“If he really, truly believes what he believes, that is his right to do so,” he said. “But there is often a price to pay for that.

In other words, Councilman Kenney wants people with dissenting views to shut up – or else face the consequences.

Pastors across the fruited plain addressed the attacks on Chick-fil-A from their pulpits on Sunday – but none was more eloquent or passionate than Charles Lyons – the pastor of Armitage Baptist Church in Chicago.

Lyons issued an appeal to Mayor Rahm Emanuel, urging him to reconsider the verbal assault he made on people of faith.

“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago’s values,” Emanuel said. His remarks left many wondering if Christians were welcome in the Windy City.

“Mr. Mayor, do not dismiss us,” he implored. “Do not disrespect us. We too, are Logan Square. We too, are Chicago.”

The pastor admonished Emanuel without so much as a shout or a hint of anger. His remarks were peppered with applause and the occasional Amen. Midway through his appeal, Lyons paused – and delivered a not-so-subtle warning to city leaders.

“If the thought police come to Armitage Baptist Church, we will meet them at the door, respectfully, unflinchingly, willing to die on this hill holding a copy of the sacred Scriptures in one hand and a copy of the U.S. Constitution in the other,” he said.

    Pay attention, people of faith.
Dark clouds are gathering. The winds of intolerance are blowing. There’s a great storm approaching.

The days of persecution are upon us.

  • In the DC Metro area Wednesday, we passed two Chick-Fil-As about 10 miles apart, over a period of 4 hours.

It was a traffic jam, lines and even at 9:30ish pm packed inside, with a big back up outside.  We would have stopped but we had a time deadline.

Burnt you, DC Mayor Gray, with so many of your campaign staffers in prison, how's that working out?

  • Thanks, Elizabeth! That's great news.

I got e-mails from Liberty Council and Grassfire Nation saying that the
Wednesday event at just about every Chick-fil-A in the Eastern United States was
a tremendous success. We have a store in my area but I didn't notice it getting all
that crowded. It was busy, but your news is very encouraging.

The news media predictably tried to ignore this event. This is something that we
need to talk up. It just proves how biased the MSM is. And this was great because
with Obama and his Communist cronies trying to pressure a private business, all
they did was raise up a torrent of support for Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy. He
must be right proud about now! Once again, his customer base showed up.

What you say and what Grassfire Nation says means that conservative citizens
mobilized and gave their support to a great private business principle, American
freedom of speech, as the founding fathers intended it. And it was really more
than that, it was a show of support for Christian values, which is a lot higher on
    the list.

I would like to copy here the email I got describing this because their words say it
    all:

     Grassfire Nation
    Neil,

Here's the liberal media's take on what took place yesterday at 1,600 Chick-fil-A stores across the nation. The Associated Press reported that "supporters showed up at local Chick-fil-A stores."

    Really?

As one happy patron said yesterday while waiting in what seemed like a never ending line at her Chick-fil-A restaurant, "We need to see these same lines at the polls in November!"

Neil, this isn't about chicken so much as it is about censorship, and yet another leftist assault on our liberties, on the free market.

Regardless how the media tries to downplay this incredible event, a powerful conservative message was delivered to the liberal media and Obama. They can all try to ignore what took place, but make no mistake, they heard it and it shook them.

But with Election Day still months away, it's vital that freedom loving patriots continue carrying this momentum and energy right up through the election.

You know, with results like this, Chick-fil-A needs to team up with other like-
minded small businesses and maybe the Tea Party, to have some scheduled
events leading up to November. This could be fun. And it could be pretty revealing
how the libs cope with the news.

  • I expect Rahm Emmanuel is right when he says that Chick-Fil-A doesn't represent the values of Chicago. I expect tMr. Cathy is pleased by that.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

Chicago doesn't sound like a very nice place to live. I know a man who grew up
there. He was the only one in the city council who refused to take bribes. This was
in the 40's. He says that everyone hated him. Maybe that's why he moved to the
    Left Coast.

  • Love your comment.  I  live in Chicago--you have to realize that it is a huge metro city, and there are beautiful safe areas, great culture, and then a lot of areas one should avoid.  My family drove to the closest Chik fil A on Wednesday, but the lines were shutting down a huge street, there were 60 cars in the drive through, and the wait was projected to be 2-21/2 hours.  We drove to the next closest one in Indiana, and it was the same.  So we went for lunch today. It was still lines out the door.  The Free Speech of Christians is under fire.
I am not alone, for the father is with me.

    Amazing.

Now where would I go in the MSM to read what you just wrote here, Loriann?
You have done a corporal work of mercy by posting this testimony.
Let him with ears to hear, hear!

I'm going there tomorrow for lunch and now I have a nice report to give them.
They'll probably have one for me as well.

  • I read today that CBS didn;t cover the lines at all, that NBC and ABC focused on a few protest posters, but all of the Fox and Indy stations here in Chicago covered it.  It was the same way all over.  My husband and I were laughing at how cheerful the crowd was, how most wore some cross or religious shirt, how they cleaned after themselves and held the doors open for people in wheelchairs...people who have values and love he Lord seem to be happier in life.
Have fun tomorrow. I recommend the Strips with Chik-filA souce. Hub loved the chicken soup.
