  • First of all, this doesn't bother me at all, but I know others have complained.

I would like to invite everyone (who doesn't already do it) to consider that when replying to posts, especially long ones, it should be considered proper forum etiquette NOT to quote the entire text of the previous post, especially if your post is the very next one, and even more so when you plan to answer with just one phrase.

Otherwise, if you respond to a specific part, for the ease of reading just quote the post, but delete everything but the section, to which you are replying.

This keeps the thread size down and makes it quicker and easier to read through.

    Just a thought.

    Alright I'm off to work!

  • Another way to keep the thread size Down would be for CM to quit posting.

  • Right.  That's precisely what I meant by the "convoluted posts" -- which you took the wrong way.  It gives me a headache just trying to work through them.

  • Convoluted posts?

St. Thomas Aquinas wrote massive volumes of theology.  St. Augustine wrote five million words.  Calling CM's posts convoluted is off the mark, I think.  You can say "I work and don't have time to read them," but that doesn't mean they're convoluted.  Why does everything have to be a soundbite?

It's an obligation, as far as I'm concerned, to study lengthy and difficult posts for the nuggets of wisdom that may be gleaned therein.  If the posts were simply rambling, as some of mine probably are, then it wouldn't be an obligation.

The "headache" that results from reading lengthy posts might be like the hangover that wakes you up out of a drunken stupor ( not that you should ever be drunk, it's a mortal sin -- that metaphor was from my past life ).  It's important to never give up and just settle for what you think is the truth, not to let down your guard.  That is why even though I believe in baptism of desire, I am engaged in discussing it with CM and making sure that I am RIGHT to believe in it.  If he has ANY argument that compels me to change my mind, I must be open to it.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.
