Mr. Front N. Center

Well, the "front" part was baked in the cake, since the short guys had to be in front...


My class was very shy. Even the guys who were seemingly OK with people hesitated to speak up, go first, etc.  I helped my class out by "going first" so many times I lost count.
There were 2 other guys that had some leadership, above average ability, were good with helping others, etc. They were also older. But even they were more hesitant than me to speak up. That actually surprised me a bit. On the other hand, the Gen Z younger guys weren't social masters, but that was completely expected.

Do you think you will end up installing surveillence devices? That would be a bummer. Can't be sounding like a "consipracy thoerist" to the customer, but you could gently let them know that wireless, is not as secure as hard wired, and non-local internet connected centralized storage is often compromised by hackers, and abused by Big Tech.

No, the company that hired me doesn't do surveillance devices. The worst thing some electricians in my area do is data centers. The pay is higher, the hours are longer, but you hate your life. That's a great big Nope from me. Plus the AI bubble is going to burst, so it's a temporary bonanza at best. For some young single guys, it could be a good chance to save up some money.

I'm looking forward to my first day on Tuesday, working for a contractor that does Commercial work. Maybe I'll try out Residential or Industrial someday, but I'm doing Commercial for now. Most of the work available to new apprentice electricians is Commercial.

As I look over my tool box, there are a few holes in my tool collection -- for some of my missing electrician tools I have a temporary option that will make do for now, but there's one item I'm going to need during my first week of work:
