The thing to point out about Mary Jane is that it’s different now than back in the 60s.  Natural, organic Mary Jane has a 1:1 ratio between THC drug and the relaxing, cannibus oil.

Nowadays, they’ve messed with the strains and grown plants with super high THC concentrations.  I’m sure this is what the OP was referring to.  This is why people say that you can’t smoke without getting high and there’s no middle ground.  They are wrong theoretically but correct in practice.  In theory, one could smoke a balanced plant and enjoy a relaxing time, like a few beers.  In practice, I’m not sure those plants exist anymore.  (You could move to Colorado and grow your own, haha).

A normal strain of Mary Jane,
is rather tame and not the same,
As a plant you’d get on the black market,
Or what’s sold out West, advertised as “the best”,
Because all that grows, whether cannibus or rose,
Was made by God, and He knows,
It has a use, by His design,
For moderation, like fine wine,
If only man would let be,
Nature's course, then we’d see,
Man and plant have a medical synergy.

My friend Colin, I agree on all points but one, the one that is bolded. Remember that Jesus and some of the saints have raised people from the dead, so why do you believe that your brain damage is irreversible? As St Pio tells us, "pray, hope and don't worry".
Mark 9:22 And Jesus saith to him: If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Excellent point, Nadir! You are right. All things possible with the True God.
I don’t have extensive or even significant brain damage as far as I can tell. I’m really quite blessed to have a functioning and relatively healthy mind considering how much I used to habitually use all kinds of drugs. I’ll never know the kind of person I would be today had I not abused my mind and body so much at such a young age. But I probably lost a couple IQ points and didn’t allow my brain to fully develop, which probably has affected my judgment and decision making capabilities.
All is well, though. Our Lord has blessed me greatly : )
“He set me free in the open; he rescued me because he loves me.” Psalm 18:19

Hahaha lovely poetry!
You raise some good points. The stuff I was using was not your average 60’s ditch weed.
I live in Colorado. The marijuana industry has changed this state immensely (not for the better). Most of the people come out here to grow or smoke strains with the highest THC content possible. Obviously many people move here becuase CBD is the only medication that works for them. I think the majority just want to get really high though. When I was 19 or so, I grew a plant from seed and it wasn’t shwag. Although, the hemp industry is starting to develop and grow here which I completely support.

I smoked marijuana a few times as a teenager and never got high. I never smoked large amounts, but I suppose it is proof that you can smoke it without getting high, at least with certain strains.

That said, even if you aren't getting high I can't imagine it's much good for your lungs, so not a recommendable hobby in any case.

Most people don’t get high their first time unless you smoke a lot. I think it also depends on the THC content.
Would that make tobacco/nicotine products sinful?
