  • I vote not legit.  Fr. Tanqueray had great commentary on this type of occurence.  He said when evaluating phenomena that the Holy Spirit is never crass, crude or immodest.  These occurences are never reduced to the common.  It's a foregone conclusion that nothing Divine ever appears on a rock, a piece of toast, a tree trunk or mold.

I feel bad for these people.  The Church is in such a desperate state.   Many need to feel that divine connection.
For it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be dispersed. Matthew 26:31

I agree completely, with the exception of God's creation being anything but 'common'. I don't see why something divine can't appear on a rock or tree, since they are part of God's creation. If one really wanted to get philosophical with help from Scripture, one could make the claim that something divine once appeared on a tree- Our Lord Jesus Christ, who was "hanged on a tree" for our sins. I know, not what you meant. But still.

    Edit

"I didn't see it at first..." said the woman in the article. Thats because if isnt there but rather she is seeing what she wants, as many are wont to do.
