  • No word if the following of this suggestion will be deemed as penance. Stay tuned.

    Quote
MANILA, Philippines — When Pope Francis visits the Philippines next week, traffic enforcers won’t let the capital’s streets get gridlocked if they have to answer the call of nature.

About 2,000 traffic enforcers who will be on duty during the Jan. 15-19 papal visit will be required to wear adult diapers, said Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino.

Tolentino also encouraged people who will wait for hours to see the pope to also wear diapers.

The prospect of wearing diapers while on duty was “well received” by his men, he said Wednesday.

Tolentino said the idea will be tested on Friday by 800 traffic enforcers who work shifts during the nearly 24-hour annual procession of the Black Nazarene. It will be the first time that traffic enforcers in the Philippines will wear diapers while on duty in the streets, he said.

The Black Nazarene procession attracts hundreds of thousands of barefoot mostly-male Filipino Roman Catholics who parade a centuries-old black statue of Jesus Christ which devotees believe possess mystical powers that could cure ailments and answer wishes of good health and fortune.

Tolentino says there won’t be enough portable toilets for the millions of people expected to see Pope Francis hold an open-air Mass at the seaside Rizal Park on Jan. 18.

“If you attend an event that will last for 24 hours, you cannot go around looking for a (portable toilet),” Tolentino said.

Priests, nuns, seminarians, and the elderly also should consider wearing diapers, he said.

Asked if he will also wear one, Tolentino said, “I will try, but in my case, I have less hydration.”

  • This is literally the one and only Pope Francis related news story that ever brought a smile to my face.

Just something about the idea of millions of be-diapered Novus Ordities... I don't know...

Hopefully plenty of Extraordinary Ministers of Talcuм Powder will be on hand.

    That gives me the creeps!

Where did everyone go for all those centuries!

They didn't have cars then.  They were only invented around 100 years ago.  Traffic was more like North Korea and Popes did not travel the world.

Paul VI was the first Pope to leave Europe or travel in a jet aircraft.

Due to a visit from The Bishop of Rome.

Is this one of the Trumpets of the Apocalypse?  What a clever, diabolical method of further reducing the holy prestige of the papacy to the sewers of the world.

  • It's only a trumpet of the apocalypse if they have beans, brussel sprouts and crispy aromatic duck the night before Francis arrives.

  • The Philippines - Home of the Diaper-Wearing Police Force!

Sometimes managing to place some port-a-potties along the route is just too difficult a task.

Most grown men will just turn away from the crowd and urinate against a wall - you can see this on any street in the Philippines so the diapers are for going "number two".

If someone is called a "stinky cop" it won't be an insult, it will be a description.

  • Maybe I should start wearing one. After all, I nearly s--- myself anytime Francis speaks his foolishness.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • Wouldn't it be preferable for the popes to stay home? :incense:
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • To wear diapers is disgusting and humiliating.  What did they do in the past?

May God bless you and keep you
