Weird, more of this stuff is happening now. Regardless of what you think of the NO, they're a target (too). 2 churches burned down in the archdiocese last year (arson), a anti-Catholic graffiti on another, and when I was attending indult there was a guy who would mumble to himself during Mass and wore horrible satanic/heavy metal tshirts and would give the priest the middle finger during Mass. He was there a few times and I started getting out of the pew and sitting down next to him and he knocked it off. Then I started sitting next to him everytime and he stopped coming.

Other stuff I am forgetting at the moment too...

  • The perp should have been charged with attempted murder since a knife is a lethal weapon.

Good reason to open carry at Mass.  Or even concealed carry for those with delicate feelings.

  • It would seem that all TLM Mass centers should run some form of security for the protection of the priests and families.

It could be a combination of remote video cameras with some volunteer faithful men carrying on a security watch, especially during Mass.

We may not want to acknowledge it, but we're already in the "Catacomb stage" of the End Times.  Better to have some security in place , to thwart preventable attacks.

  • A novus ordite stabbing a choir leader for suspected Masonry?  It sounds pretty fishy.

Why go after the innocent choir leader when, if anyone in the novus ordo is guilty of being a Mason it's the diocese's very own bishop?  The bishop's presiders are mere Mason pledges - they haven't been accepted yet.   :roll-laugh2:

  • Perhaps he was just innovating with the liturgy.  Making it more relevant to gangsta rappers and other hoodlums.

  • When I first heard this story on the radio news (at the time, they reported that he stabbed the choir director and others were wounded trying to subdue him, and he had not yet made any statements), the first thing I thought was, "I wonder if the choir was singing "On Eagle Wings".  That might justify a temporary insanity defense.

    Actually sounds reasonable.

Although I'm not so sure about the End Times bit... but maybe that's just my own wishful thinking.

Yeah, it's just your own wishful thinking.

Set up a rotating schedule, where the men at Mass sign up for 10-minute
shifts.  They only lose about 11 minutes of Mass and since it is for the
security of the congregation and the Priest, they do not miss Mass.  All
they have to do is be visible and watch the perimeter of the building while
Mass is in progress.  The bad guys don't want to be noticed or seen.

Don't want to derail this thread, but I have to agree with you on the end times thing. The Apocalypse clearly states that first the Antichrist appears, then he takes power, then he and his army are defeated, then Satan is bound for a thousand years, then he is released and we have the final battle and the end of time. The only way we can be in the end times now as far as I can see is if the Antichrist had been Nero or Domitian or some such persecuting figure, and Satan was bound from 500-1500AD or thereabouts. Otherwise the timeline doesn't work; you can't have Satan having been bound back during the "Age of Christendom" and the Antichrist coming up now. Nero may have been a "type" of the Antichrist, a foreshadowing, forerunner figure, but then that would make the Age of Christendom a foreshadowing of Satan bound. I think. I'm pretty sure we're looking at the Chastisement of Fatima and Akita coming, not the end times. I could easily be wrong -- I'm not a Biblical scholar by any stretch of the imagination, I'm just going by what St. John said. And I expect the chastisement to be sufficiently horrendous that there's no denial of horror or wishful thinking involved.
"Let us thank God for having called us to His holy faith. It is a great gift, and the number of those who thank God for it is small."
    -- St. Alphonsus de Liguori
