Commentary on the Eighth Sunday after PentecostIn today's Gospel reading, we see that everyone involved is a crook. The steward, those in debt, even the master... everyone's rotten.
And as Father pointed out in his sermon, they all wanted to make up the rules as they went along. And again as Father pointed out, that's essentially what Original Sin is - we make up the rules... we are God.
That got me thinking about the changes in the Church the past few decades.
The Latin word caritas translates into love (or charity, depending on the context). And that is where many, if not most, within the Church have lost their way in the past 40 years.
"Love thy neighbor as thyself" is what we were all raised with. Call me old-fashioned, but I certainly expect my neighbor to treat ME the way I would treat him. Isn't that was real love and charity is?
