  • Just because someone becomes outraged at your insult does not mean that it "hit close to home", nor does it show that he is "of bad will" or any other such nonsense.

A smart aleck enemy, or one filled with hatred (who believes you can do nothing good) will of course cast each of your actions in a negative light. But that doesn't make it true!

If you walked into my house, and called my wife, daughter, or mother a whore, I would most certainly cast you out of my house.

What would this person complain about, if I did? Well, based on my experience on Trad Catholic fora, I can give you some suggestions:
"His pride couldn't tolerate allowing an opinion that disagreed with His Highness' opinion!"
"I think I must have hit pretty close to home, seeing how riled up he got."
"He got so angry at me -- methinks he doth protest too much that his wife is not a whore!"
"He's looking for a Chinese slave girl, subservient, echo chamber in that house of his. He's a real tyrant! That poor woman, and those poor kids."

Um...how about I threw you out because you were extremely rude and offensive to my wife (or child, or mother) who didn't have that coming at all. Your rude epithet is completely un-called for and false, so I have a right and a DUTY to become angry at the injustice and deal with the situation appropriately.

What man would stand by while his womenfolk were attacked, brought to tears, insulted, etc.? Not any man worthy of the name.

That's what anger is for: to move us to action upon learning of, or seeing, an injustice. In other words, it is to move us to RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION.

Now a sinner will become angry when you correct his sin -- but that's simply anger, not righteous at all.

They might look the same, but there is a world of difference between the two.

  • If it were a parable it would not identify the characters by name.

Parable of the rich man - doesn't say what his name was.
