It looks like I'll be needing to look for work -- there are few families of 5 that can live on $250 a week! We're about as frugal as they come, but come on!
Looks like a bunch of companies are getting bit with the cost-cutting bug.
My mom works for the same company -- she's getting cut back hours as well.
The company does not concern itself with keeping its contract workers "busy". They expect us to get other work -- which works for some people (young go-getters like myself, who do web programming) but NOT SO WELL for others (fiftysomething widows who have no recent job experience, and do copy editing/proofreading for a living)
Anyone need any website programming work done? I'm the Internet equivalent of an architect, construction worker/contractor, handyman, landscaper, and interior designer all rolled into one.
Fortunately, I do practical, down-to-earth work that many people would want (though it's limited to the computer world) -- I create and improve websites.
Matthew
P.S. Please don't guess what company I work for, or post the company's name in a reply to this post. If I wanted the company's name mentioned, I would have mentioned it. Many of you can probably guess the company.
