If anyone knows of a person who needs computer programming work done, please let me know either by PM or by e-mail (matthew at cathinfo.com).
Obviously this work would have to be done remotely (from home), as we are way too accustomed to me being here all day. I have been working from home since 2004 -- before I got married.
I do have a good Internet connection for videoconferencing, Skype, etc.
I am a back end programmer -- I program the guts, the logic, I make things happen. The User Interface and graphics are things I leave to others. The back end includes the database and everything close to it. I can design a database from scratch. I can handle new things (recently I worked with MS-SQL hosted in Azure -- no problem).
Generally speaking, I prefer open source and free programming languages. Therefore I tend to avoid Apple, since they have a high cost of entry. I'm also a mere human being, so I have to focus if I want to master anything. So decided to give up Microsoft everything about 5 years ago, choosing to focus instead on open source equivalents (Apache instead of IIS, Linux instead of Windows, PHP instead of .Net, MySQL instead of SQL server, etc.)
I have strong understanding and experience working with RESTful APIs. This is a big one, since every program seems to use them nowadays. I can even *create* a RESTful API from scratch, using Laravel for example. I've been doing relational database stuff since 2005, so databases are second nature to me.
In the past, I've used PHP and MySQL for some very NON-WEBSITE type stuff -- like a program to sort through tens of thousands of e-mails on an AOL e-mail account, I wrote a program to process data for a local Constable's office to help them serve warrants. Even if it has nothing to do with a webpage, I could write a full program in PHP using MySQL for a database, and run it on a local machine.
There are a lot of useful things you can do with a good database (which I can design from scratch) and some programming to use that database. We're talking about serious utility -- even profitability -- for your business.
My rates are very competitive -- probably 1/2 what you would expect to pay for similar work elsewhere. I work from home, I live a humble and frugal lifestyle, and I live in rural Texas where the cost of living is low (as opposed to, say, California).
My other strengths include problem solving, independence, experience, and communications ability.
