  • Hello everyone. This idea has been running around in my head for a while now.  I tried to make my own movie but with two babies, a heavy work schedule and a lack of movie making skills I quickly abandonned the task. So now, I am coming to you as I think with the collective brain power, financial resources and other abilities of those who post here we could produce a very good docuмentary. So why do we need one?

Ever try convincing a friend or relative that they should switch from the nuvos ordo? And the first thing you realize is that half the words you are using they don't understand, "tridentine latin mass" "quo primum" "transubstantiation" to name a few. And the result is you blow perhaps the only chance to convince the person. Or maybe you gave a someone a video by brother Michael Dimond, and they were turned off right away by the low quality of the production. What I'm trying to get here is that there is no GOOD docuмentary on what has happened to the Catholic Church in the last 60 years. One that can open hearts and minds. One that you would feel confident giving out to people coming out of the Novus Ordo Mass on Sunday morning.

Most Novus Order Catholics live in a bubble, their parish is ok so they don't see the overall problem. A good movie along the lines of some of the "Truth" movies will wake a lot of people up.

Once the movie is made, people can download it and burn hundreds of copies and give them out to people as they come out of mass in their respective locations. Of course it would go on youtube and us activists will watch it over an over to get the views up as well as post links, send e-mails etc.

personally I would try to target ex-Catholics as well. I was pretty much ex-Catholic when I discovered tradition.
Many of the people who left the church over the last 50 years left directly because of the changes to the mass etc. If they knew what had really transpired and what was behind the changes many would come back.  Perhaps an advertisement in the local newpaper entitled "free movie for ex-Catholics:it wasn't you it was them~email for free copy"

So what's the movie going top be like? Well, seeing as the target audience will be clueless NO catholics and ex-catholics, it should be easy to follow and impressive and should stick to the facts.

Here is a short list of things I think should be covered.

    1. The fact that the Tridentine Latin Mass is the oldest known rite in existance and can be traced back to the second century.

    2. That the TLM was codified by Pius V in 16?? and all other rites less 200 years old were forbidden under punishment of imprisonment.

    3. The new mass was much more than a translation and the changes were concocted by a known freemason Hannibal Bugnini with his 6 protestant ministers.

    4. the strange circuмstance surrounding the election of John 23 in 1958 ie the white smoke going up from the conclave, the world rejoicing that a new pope had been
chosen, then no new pope, then John 23 who calls a council for no specific reason. This did happen and there is film footage of the event, whether Gissepi Siri was actually elected and his papacy suppressed is harder to prove but I think it is significant enough to cover.

    5. Visiting a traditional parish, interview some of the people. Here their stories. It would be really great to find a group who went into their baements and garages to celebrate mass right after the council.

    6. The ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ infiltration of the church. This is the most shockingh info so it should be left to the end. I think Randy Engel would be great to interview on this subject if it ever gets that far.

Now, that's just what I've thought up with my little pea brain. This movie is waiting to be made. Let's focus our energies and make it happen!

  • Better still would be a drama based (truthfully) on the life of St Pius V.  We have the council of Trent, the codification of the Mass, the Excommunication of the foul whore Elizabeth I, and so much more.  It would be one of the greatest films ever as long as hollywood wasn't allowed to touch it.

The emotional impact is perfect for a novus ordo audience as they can only act on emotions and not truth as it stopped being taught 50 years ago.

  • This video in particular really got me thinking about the idea. The film is called "money as debt." The subject matter~money, is something that people have a very poor understanding of, how money is created and how it works that is. I think the information that he is trying to present and his objective are very similar to what we would be trying to do.

If the film was animated like this one we would need a monologue and someone who could make animated graphics and a narrator.  Of course, once we put one together we could always update it, make a second or third addition and possibly a sequel if it was a success.

have a look at this film and see what you think.

  • I just got back from Mass and I think there are some things I can contribute to this.  First, this is the month of the Sacred Heart and I think we should dedicate this to Him and place it under His direction.  These are all His souls, after all, many times His by rights.  The devil should gain none of them.

For my own part I will pray for this to happen and when it does I will peddle them.  And if you think of something else I can do, just let me know.

  • CMRI in Newhall Califonia already made a great video titled "Vacancy", I don't think it is on the internet, but you can probably purchase it from the gift store in Spokane, via their web site.
I might suggest to Father that they put it on the internet, it covers quite a bit, and they sold many, many copies.  I think they produced it about 10 - 12 years ago.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • I'll check on that video; it could be they sold them all.  Your right Trinity time is getting shorter we need to get the message out instead of trying to sell stuff.  We need to do some Catholic action.

I remember one time, I just posted a prayer on my web site and I received a few emails from people just telling me, they couldn't believe it, because they haven't heard that particular prayer in years, and it brought back memories of their  Catholic school days.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Yes, several things would be needed:

    * An outline of what will be in the video -- with main headings, sub-headings, etc.
We should keep this as "ecuмenical" as possible: let's leave aside any conclusions about the papacy, validity of the Novus Ordo, etc. since we can't even agree on those topics among ourselves. Let's stick to a defense of Catholic Tradition ("the Faith") and the Mass. The short version: Let's leave Sedevacantism out of this, or this DVD project will end up like that large Sedevacantist forum -- oh wait, there isn't one. Exactly.
    * Several researchers to provide the details/facts which will be the substance of the video
    * A dozen or more people to acquire/find public domain graphics -- scans of old holy cards, pictures of popes (St. Pius V, etc.) We'd need a lot of them.
If you take a picture of a statue or church, you have full rights to the picture. There's a good starting point.
    * One or two people to take those pictures and turn them all into a standard size -- say, 640 x 480 or whatever the original version of the video will be done in.
This isn't a movie, and there won't be any full motion video (at least not much) so we can make the "movie" whatever size we find convenient for most graphics we have.
We'd have to figure this out at the very beginning, of course.
    * Someone to "direct" the video: take all the graphics and facts, and put them together in a compelling sequence. The director decides what the actual video will look like -- timing, what picture will display when, etc.
    * In cooperation with the "director", someone will need to type out the narrative for the video, from beginning to end. Perhaps someone could do this, and the director could edit it? This would basically be a long essay or web post, with certain differences. For example, on TV you can't have complicated paragraphs or you lose people.
    * A narrator with a decent voice
    * Someone with video editing software/skills and time to use both.
    * Some kind of soundtrack would be a huge plus -- but we can't just use whatever we want and hope the copyright holder doesn't mind.

Burning the finished video to DVD is the easy part, same with distribution. I have a large Chant CD business so I have a good source for Jєωel cases, labels, label templates, etc. plus I have a whole shipping "department". I have the whole infrastructure necessary for distributing CDs/DVDs.

I can also take care of the website, including a website that will be seen by people. I do websites and SEO (search engine optimization) for a living. I am especially good at audio editing, but I've done some videos as well, and I have the software.

What I don't have a lot of is TIME.

I would certainly need the researchers to provide the times, names, dates, etc. and maybe even a broad outline of what the docuмentary should contain.

I would like to "direct" the video since I have a good artist's touch when it comes to such things.

Worst case, even if I couldn't make the video because of time constraints, etc. I could lend someone my copy of PowerDirector 6. I say lend and not give, because it cost me $90 and I might need it in the future.

  • I think I realized why something like this hasn't been done before.

It's too difficult to get a couple dozen Trads together without them fighting among themselves -- that is, unless a priest is leading the whole thing. Everyone wants to shine, everyone has their own ideas, everyone thinks their way is best.

But here's the real hard part. After making this powerful video, what is the conclusion going to be? A link to SSPX.org? A link to a sedevacantist group? A link to Traditio?
Maybe a link to CathInfo ;)

See what I mean? You create this powerful video that gets people to want Catholic Tradition -- to what end? Each person involved thinks what they're doing is the best way to go -- or they wouldn't be doing it.

Maybe this video will specifically have to AVOID pointing the person in any direction, as the volunteers passing out the video will hand out flyers to go with it (for SSPX, CMRI, David Bawden aka Pope Michael, etc.)

Perhaps we could have a website to go with the video.
