Post by: Canuk the Lionheart on April 20, 2011, 12:42:34 PM
Ok guys, right now I'm in debate club discussing wether or not Lent ends on Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday. We all agred to take the word of responses here. So, when does Lent end?

Considering the biggest day in the entire season of Lent is Good Friday, it wouldn't make any sense that Lent would end on Palm Sunday, since Good Friday comes AFTER Palm Sunday, so....

Lent actually ends when Holy Saturday ENDS, which would mean, Easter Sunday would be the first day of the Easter Season, which is immediately preceded by Holy Saturday, which is the last day of Lent.

What they said. And to add, you don't actually stop giving up whatever it is you gave up for Lent until Easter Sunday after you go to Mass (unless you attend the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday).

Count the days from Ash Wednesday, but skip the Sundays.  You'll find that the 40th day is Holy Saturday.
