    Answer each with:

    Usually        Sometimes       Rarely

Do you listen patiently when someone launches for the fifth time into the same tired old story or the same stale jokes?

When people begin to gossip, do you make strenuous efforts to change the subject quickly?

When someone insults you, do you (before you respond to the insult) call to mind how many times God has forgiven you, and then resolve to be just as forgiving?

When you're not sure about another person's motives, do you assume that his motives are good until you have evidence otherwise?

Do you make efforts to be reconciled with persons who have wronged you?

Do you try to suppress those sarcastic remarks that leap into your mind?

When others anger you, do you start praying for them immediately, before you find yourself brooding about how they've wronged you?

Are you as polite to the members of your own family as you are to strangers?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Give yourself 2 points for each "usually" and 1 point for each "sometimes."
Scroll down to see how well you did.

    14-16: Wow! You are kind!

10-12: Okay, you're pretty nice, but if you're serious about following Christ, you can do better.

6-8: Looks like you need help being kinder. Read on to see if I'm right; this email could change your life for the better.

2-4: I'll bet your relations with others are rocky! This email can make your life significantly better and your days happier. Why not start now?

0: You're in spiritual trouble when it comes to kindness!
If you don't realize that already, this email can help . . .
but probably you're going to need to talk to a priest, too.

  • 12.  I can definitely do better.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

Exactly what I was thinking. Thank you, Alex.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • I scored a 10 however, knowing that we see ourself so different than the way others see us, or more importantly than the way God sees us.

The bottom line is we probably all need improvement, at least I know I do.

The only sure answer I feel I scored myself was the third one, and the one I really had to ponder was the last one.    All the rest were hit or miss.
    Please pray for my soul.

This one really hits home with a friend who said something quite hurtful recently. He'd called me a day after our 'tense' conversation saying he cared an prayed for me constantly. I think he realized his mistake, and that was his way of apologizing. He's an older gentleman, and I wouldn't expect much more than that from him, which is okay.  I didn't want to speak with him, and was debating on what to do next. I just called and left him a message just saying hi.

Its easy to say we forgive people. But I think striving to "be just as forgiving" as our Lord would be virtuous.
