"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • I don't think $250,000 a year is a lot of money in California.

I think getting paid over a $100 an hr is a lot to be making when working for a not for profit. The tax forms showed that he worked 40 hrs a week, he made around $112 per hr. Even if they were orthodox I wouldn't give them money because I don't believe it would be a wise use of money to pay so much for ... What does he do?

Fran the Ignorant here.  Who is Karl Keating?  And what does he do that isn't worth $250k a year?
     :dancing-banana: :dancing-banana:
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

You could try Googling him.  I've heard it tends to give one the answers one seeks.

My mistake. I assumed he made   money from being a lawyer and not from donations to his website.

  •  :scratchchin:If he earned it honestly, I have no problem with his income.  It won't get him into heaven, so it really doesn't count for much in my estimation.  "Having food and raiment, let us be therewith content."  I St. Timothy 6:8

  • I have a problem with it:

    http://www.calcxml.com/calculators/convert-salary-to-hourly

    Karl Keating ($250 K at 40 hours a week):   $120.19/hour.
    Michael Voris ($40 K at up to 126 hours a week):  $6.36/hour.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Voris#Personal_life

US minimum wage:  $7.25 per hour

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimum_wage_in_the_United_States

    P.S.  What would Jesus do?!

  • I don't have a problem with people making a good living in general. I think it is a problem for non profits begging for money acting like it's all going to fall apart paying comfortable salaries from the sacrafices of old ladies. Good people giving, living paycheck to paycheck thinking they're doing God's will, seems like a scam.

  • It's a question of how one earns that money.  As for making a "good living," how could you or anyone else justify that in a world where human beings, especially, children, are starving to death?  It seems to me that true Catholicism means giving one's "disposable income" to the poor.

It's utterly amazing to me that any true traditional Catholic could dislike my post.  How could any traditional Catholic endorse, even implicitly, modern democracy and/or the modern capitalistic system is beyond me?!!  (I'm a Catholic monarchist at heart, and I believe that usury, the basis of modern capitalism, is gravely sinful.)  Yes, true Catholics should give all of their disposable income to the Church and/or to the poor!  Do not participate in the modern capitalistic system at all and only use money to meet your basic needs.
