Title: Just asking
Post by: JoanScholastica on July 13, 2010, 05:49:45 AM
What if a friend is having an abortion but told you she wouldn't do it if you adopt the baby right after birth? Should you tolerate her irresponsibility and say yes or rather inform her about the grave conduct she's going to do and leave? And if you said no, and she did have an abortion, is it also your sin as well?

Is this an academic question, or do you really not know?

I found out that this young girl was thinking of an abortion and my daughter did adopt the baby girl, we named her Maria, and she just turned 18.

This was different however, since I didn't know the mother directly but the mother was a fried of my friends daughter.  My daughter wanted to adopt.

I think this women is toying with you, because there are so many couples that would jump at the chance to adopt a child.  You might take here challenge and If you are unable to raise a child help her find a couple that will.

No.  See Myrna above, on this we agree  :judge:  That's emotional blackmail, and there are other places to give up an unwanted baby if such is her unfortunate decision.

What is the charitable thing to do, if the woman is really serious?

Take the words at face value.  If you cannot adopt her, do not reveal the fact.  Afterwards, find a good home for it.

The most important thing to do in this situation is to save the soul of that unborn child. Even if you don't have the means to provide for the child at the time, it is infinitely better to stop her from having the abortion and then figure out a home for it later. You can still admonish her for wanting to have an abortion but there is a life that needs to be saved first.

Honestly, I don't know the answer as I'm stuck between saving the baby and having my own life.

But thanks for everyone who did advice.... I guess I'd rather accept the baby than let it be killed.

Good to see you again, Joan.

You could always hit the girl over the head with a cast-iron frying pan, telling her to get her head out of her a...well, to get her head on straight.

Her games are total BS, indicating she is all about herself.  The others gave some good advice.  Consider it, pray about it, and, if all else fails, make use of your mother's frying pan :)

If this is real, please PM me. There are many people who would like to adopt even if you cannot.
